I love this video and I can't wait to build around with this set (after playing out of the box for a while)

@Mardu: that color set can have a powerful precon, see Edgar Markov and Kaalia, but they're still narrow. This group is narrow and low impact. That said, I disagree that it's because Mardu is the Red/White triplet, the Jeskai deck is just fine. I think the problem is actually Orzhov, or more pointedly Black. Check out the list of Mardu staples on EDHrec, they're almost all Orzhov. Mardu's best game plan is Aristocrats but Orzhov and Mono Black actually do it more efficiently. In Jeskai, the allied pair of WU compliments itself with U providing spell defense and cards while W provides board control, and R brings the win conditions and spells matter jank. In Mardu, the allied pair of RB overlaps so much that its redundant to have both colors. Adding W to B lets it handle everything it couldn't before. The end result is that the only reason to play Mardu is if the Commander pulls enough interest on its own. Edgar, Kaalia, Alesha, Marchesa, and even Syr Gwyn all offer relatively compelling payoffs for signing up for Mardu. Without a really intriguing Commander, a "good" Mardu deck is an Orzhov deck.

Thinking about this some more: There are two other triplets with the Rakdos Pair in them, Jund and Grixis. @Jund, looking at Jund on EDHrec is very similar to looking at Mardu in that R is notably absent from the top cards, most of the best things to be doing in Jund are actually Golgari. I think it's less noticeable than Mardu's issue because full Golgari decks tend to be more heavily graveyard based, and Jund decks tend toward Aristocrats or attacking--thanks to Prossh and Korvold. So, like Mardu a compelling general adds R, but unlike Mardu those generals change the best available game plan. @Grixis, looking at Grixis on EDHrec there is actually a good spread among the colors, although it is more heavily U than R or B. In this case, however, there are actually some features of R that are important to popular Grixis strategies that do NOT overlap with B. Copying spells, and Wheel of Fortune effects, additionally without G or W, the UB color pair can't break Artifacts, so R actually gets to shine in the Grixis triplet, with B providing tutors and Graveyard utility. I think what can be concluded from this quick study is that whenever you're considering playing a Color Triplet, instead of a Color Pair, you want to look either for a very compelling Commander with a specific game plan, or a Triplet whose colors are complimentary and not redundant.
