It's our fourth annual COMMANDER SUMMIT!

Each year, we gather with prominent members of the EDH community to debate and discuss the hot button issues facing the format. This time we are not limiting ourselves to only those who can get to our studio here in LA. No! We're opening up the floor to Commander Luminaries from across the spectrum.

We reached out to many dignitaries in the EDHsphere, from content creators to members of the CAG and Rules Committee, to get their thoughts on things like: Should PW be legal as Commanders? Should the hybrid mana rules be changed? And of course, what cards should be banned or unbanned?

Love the work guys, I’d never considered the London mulligan to be a bad thing and for the most part I think for at least casual pods is awesome it means that no one is left behind but it does make sense that it can promote lazy deck building, just looking back at how far my pod has come in the past few years from absolute trash decks and 5+ free muls a game to maybe one person needing to do a 2nd down to six

On Planeswalkers as commanders, I found a lot of the support for keeping them banned thin at best. Lots of speculative, "Well we'd need to ban a bunch of cards." Would we? Let's be honest guys, it's very easy to build a BUSTED commander deck if that's your aim. There are a ton of turn 3 decks out there, and most people choose not to play them. Saying a bunch of cards need banned without testing, then in the next breath saying it's not worth testing, seems really close minded. Planeswalkers are huge hits with casual players, and Commander is Magic's flagship casual format. What's more, the planeswalkers are the new faces of magic. They are the main characters and the main marketing faces of the game. I think there's a real disconnect with the inability to use them in the premier casual format of the game they represent. This isn't like UN-cards, where no one was clamoring for their inclusion. I think the demand for the change is there, and will only grow as time goes on, and to not acknowledged that is just closing your ears and ignoring the evidence in front of you.
