Magic Pro Tour Hall of Fame members Brian Kibler and Ben Stark are joined by former professional player, and current Wizards of the Coast R&D member, Melissa DeTora to try out a new product called Magic Game Night. It’s all the multiplayer action you love from formats like Commander and Brawl but designed to be playable with your friends and family straight out of the box.

How will Josh fair against these titans of the game? Will his political trickery be enough to compete against their superior play skill?

You guys always create great content! Wish this was commander, but I understand you have to fill a variety of interests.

awesome games! love seeing the two games in one episode again. great episode. this product looks fun. might have to pick it up. though i haven't heard about it before, how much is it's retail and when does it release?

Always interesting to see these products helmed by professional players! Great episode.

Not commander but really enjoyed the episode. Looks like a fun product to pull out like a boardgame. Quality amazing as always respect for all the hard work that goes into this stuff.

Nice looks like it was a interesting mix of cards for a pre con set , loved the episode

i'm not sure what's different this time, but the overhead camera does not seem to make too crisp pictures. Looks a little blurry here and there. Besides that, awesome episode, even tho it wasn't commander this time :) Can't wait to see the next one

When Ben played Skilled Animator and made his thopter a 5/5, the thopter became a 6/6 instead. It's small but thought I'd let you know.

No problem! Love the show keep up the great work.

Brace for impact! I can already sense the comment section on Youtube going apeshit, playing with pros using an introductory product. I enjoyed it, tho. I like self-contained products, since I can easily use it to convince my friends to play and the video helped me gauge the fun-factor of Game Nights better than any Prof. review would. Great video!

Yeah. We're totally gonna get yelled at. It is what it is. I thought the concept of getting a bunch of Hall of Famers to play an intro level product was a fun one though. And the games actually played out really well. -JLK

multiplayer match but no sol rings? whats happening?! lol

Loved every minute of it! So good to see seasoned pros, respected and revered by the community, trying a product for new players. You can see how good they are for the complexity of the plays they make with simple decks like those. Whenever you can, do more of those!

While this was awesome, I’m now hoping that a few months from now we’ll find out that you secretly filmed a Commander game with them too. Probably wishful thinking but a man can dream. The product looks like a lot of fun. I’ll probably buy it to play with my kids.

commandzone

It's easy to underestimate how busy these people are and how much of an additional ask it is for them to learn an entirely new format (and not just that, a new WAY of playing Magic since they don't play multiplayer) enough to brew up and assemble a competent deck and then feel comfortable piloting it in front of a half-million people. These aren't players with nothing going on who are begging me to be on the show. I'm asking them. Making it as easy and low-impact on their life as possible (considering the travel, etc) is how we're able to convince many of them to be guests. I have had a number of people say no simply because they don’t play feel comfortable coming on the show and playing a deck they just built for a format they’ve never played. That’s why I like to do episodes like this one a few times a year. It allows us to bring in people who I just couldn’t ever book if all we did was play Commander. -JLK
