Love the info, in our play group we kick the norm as far as those stats go, my dimir mill deck often goes under the radar as it’s not usually doing anything but chucking down big defenders and the occasional mill spell , until I do I big tap when phenax comes out. We also have a stupidly high % win rate azure deck with daxos of meletes at the the helm just a crazy amount of control and redirects In that all they need to do is keep a few....usually 7 - 9 blue mana up and the table is basically stopped . Btw I wish we could use your card kingdom link but here in Australia it costs us a fortune to get stuff from stores state side in shipping.

Solid stuff. Quick thought in listening to the show regarding white. It seems that white contains the tools to keep other colors in check (i.e. land destruction) but as a community we socially ban that part of its toolkit. We know that. You've said it multiple times. But, now white looses crucial tools (that I as a Golgari/Jund player fears) and isn't given anything else. It seems to be take a double whammy of -%

Also, White Card that just wins... Approach of the Second Sun. :) So fun in UW Control.

I've even thought about adding it to my for-fun Rhys Deck :)

I totally love all this data as I'm a data geek. Well presented. But I don't buy your argument, Josh, for Vedalken Orrery. I love the card and have it in a lot of decks so I am not going to argue about whether it's good. I just don't buy your argument that it's good because it allows you to jump turns. In fact, I think it COSTS a turn. First, you have to spend 4 mana somewhere around turn 4/5/6 to get it on the board so you're not playing some other 4 mana card that can do work for you. Then, on turn 9, where you are trying to have mana untapped to use it, you actually have to SKIP turn 8 (don't play things so your mana is available turn 9. You get the mana back on other people's turn 9, but you are behind in terms of mana. So VO is great, but not because of the mana argument or the swapping turns argument. Or am I missing something?

You skip your turn 4 so that you can jump ahead on your turn 8,9, or 10. Again, my point was not that you can always do this, just that the card gives you the opportunity to sometimes hold up answers so you don't lose, and then, if no one attempts a game winning play, you have all of your mana to pump into the type of explosive move that we often talk about. I believe this can give you an effect that is similar to the player who goes first. By saving up two of your turns and deploying all your stuff back to back (meaning the end step before your turn added to your actual turn). To be clear, I do not believe this is THE reason why Vedalken Orrery is good. I believe it is A reason why it’s good. -JLK
