Progress Report, 18/09 - 20 (Patreon)

Fridays are for going in for one last nightmarish shift before the week's end, as well as writing about the progress made for the work you actually care about - which is this stuff below :)

The first script draft of the 3K/5K twitter celebration piece is done, and in the attachments. Whether certain aspects of it will be feasible from an engine standpoint of SFM remains to be seen, but it's thankfully nothing major that will impede on the project in turn even if it does not work out. The scene divide in order to avoid the RAM issues appears to, at least on the face of it, actually be a solution to our problems, so I am holding on to hope there as well. As the script is effectively finished, I'll be contacting MissMoonified for a reprisal of her Liara role. I tried to make the project a little on the shorter side so as to not occupy my work output for too long, but I wanted to give it its just due as well, which means it'll probably be a few minutes long, by my estimates running 2-3 minutes.

The Warcraft comic finally has a sensible script structure, and is seeing its initial stages also being given a proper outline. While we still don't have the lady orc model, there's plenty of surrounding work that can be done which will facilitate a smoother, higher quality delivery down the line once it is finally in our hands. The idea, at its core, is no longer to do a page by page reprisal of my old fiction writing, but to tell a new story, though with effectively the same premise.

The comic is intended to be more light-hearted, and will attempt to have sexual content occur frequently, with the goal being "at least once every second page" even during classic downtime moments like character conversation. The way to accomplish this is, in my eyes, to display the world of Warcraft as an extremely sexually repressed society where, whenever the main character(s) aren't engaged in coitus themselves, there's something going on in the background owing to globally pent up frustration. This is primarily to make sure that it doesn't suffer the usual old issues that many NSFW comics do, with long dry-spells where readers who are in it for the sexy times become frustrated with the lack thereof and loses interest.

I also hope to be able to inject a fair deal of humor into it, which can easily be facilitated by said background action - one example I already shared with the discord crowd is the notion of Mankrik, whose in-game depiction is that of a man distraught over the death of his wife, whose dead body you have to find as part of a quest. In my take on the universe, his wife is instead simply cheating on him, and he's something of a loud, bumbling moron - this conveyed by his ramblings to the main character being contrasted with his wife giving the guards some action in the background, or the likes. The juxtaposition between a society of self-professed puritans, who constantly pontificate what is proper and honorable, and their ceaseless need to partake in debauchery is inherently funny to me - and means I can easily dodge more troubling elements by effectively having everyone, deep down, recognize that the whole "that wouldn't be proper" spiel is done with a wink and a nod by all involved - an elaborate illusion cast over society to protect the young from the hypocritical adults' way of doing things. If you're gonna double penetrate your friend's wife, at least do it behind a bunker where kids can't see you, you know?

I'm thus in the process of delineating the actual journey in question, taking notes on the quests on the way of the path that I have in mind, and seeing what kind of spin I can give it.

The journey so far will take us:
Starting in Durotar, to the Barrens, going through Ratchet to Booty Bay, travelling through Stranglethorn up through Duskwood and Deadwind Pass, to Stonard in the Swamp of Sorrows and finally to the Blasted Lands in order to enter the Dark Portal. From there, it's still very up in the air :)

Those well-versed in Warcraft lore are very welcome to come with input here, if they remember some kind of quest or setting that could be given a funny or sexual spin to it. You never know what I might be able to squeeze into the journey, at the end of the day :)

Commission work sadly took a down priority this week as my schedule brutalized me, but the two remaining pieces are still in the works, so as Bon Jovi noted - "we've got to hold on to what we've got", and what we've got is hope.
