Here she is, world: I am very pleased to reveal the title & cover of my new book, hitting shelves next year!

Hi Honey, I'm Homo! is the multi-decade true story of queer characters on American sitcoms -- featuring behind-the-scenes tales about your favorite shows to the impact that subversive queer comedy had on the country, including interviews with folks who worked on All in the Family, The Golden Girls, Arrested Development, and much much more.

Pre-orders are now open -- reserve your copy now at any of these fine establishments:

Those pre-orders are suuuuuper important because they tell bookstores how many copies they should order ahead of the release. So if gay TV history is of interest to you (and I suspect that it is, because otherwise I am VERY curious about what motivated you to join this Patreon) please get your pre-orders in now, so retailers will be like "oh we'd better get a whole bunch of these" and not, "eh, looks pretty gay, no thanks."

Also, please tell your family and friends who have impeccably good taste (and any librarians, teachers, and bookstore owners you might know) about this thrilling new romp.

And! For extra credit! Please add Hi Honey I'm Homo! to your to-read list on Goodreads, it's free to do and it'll nudge the algorithm to recommend the book to folks who might not be aware of it yet. Yay!

I think you are going to get such a kick out of this book. Thanks so much for being a part of this Patreon and supporting my work!

Preordered it! I decided to go the traditional route, it will look more striking on the pub table as I eat lunch.😁

LOVE this title!

Haha I'm so delighted to imagine this attention-grabbing cover in people's hands

I so want to buy it, is it possible to pre-order it internationally ?

Anonymous

Placed my order!

I will place an order, but is there any way I can pre-order a signed copy? And secondly, will there a copy in hardbound? (Yes, I'm that kind of a booklover.)

librarianist

Can't wait to pre-order! Like others, I'd be up for a signed copy if there's any interest on your part... P.S. I think you meant bookshop.org, as the .com site is held by squatters.

Pre-ordered it and am so looking forward to reading it!

Amazing! As soon as it's live on Bookshop, I'm getting it!

mattbaume

Haha thank you, it's the product of far too many hours of brainstorming

mattbaume

Oh I'm so flattered you asked! Let me look into whether there's an easy way to order signed versions, I'd love to make that happen. I'll check on hardcovers too!

Congrats, Matthew! Is there one of those vendors that is a better revenue for you? Isn't Amazon the worst for the author? Also interested in a signed copy!

mattbaume

No preference, they're all equally fine! And we're figuring out how to make signed copies happen, I'll post an update once we have that up and running.

I know it's already been asked about, but I want to put my hope there will l an audiobook, too . I have eye problems that make it hard to read for very long because it gives me eye pain and headaches. I love to read though, so audiobooks are the answer for me. I can take an ebook and use text-to-speech to read it out to me, but that can make it sound really flat. It would be so great if you could be the narrator for the audiobook, too. You have such a nicely clear and distinctive voice, and it's always to hear an author read their own work. They know exactly where to put the stresses.

mattbaume

I can confirm there will be an audiobook! We'll be working out details like who the narrator will be in the coming months.

Irisarc

Yay!! I have say again that I hope you will be willing and able to read it yourself

I'm having catastrophic financial problems, and the only creator I have continued supporting is you, Matt. Your content is worth it.
