It’s not just penny it’s alyx’s betrayal Lewis is probably dead people he made friends with Jaune protected that village because it was something he could actually protect and he needed to cope somehow there were years between his fall and alyx and Lewis decades before rwby showed up and he was alone with no friends for the majority of it no one to understand him and then team rwby show up and immediately question him and why should he take that lying down and then he loses everything he had been protecting and ruby who’s gotten no help from anyone she like Jaune took the lion share of her team’s emotional burden and got none in return not even from her first friend who she relied for around the same amount of time as Weiss back at beacon

So chances are there will be another volume or atleast another half a volume in the Ever After what does that mean for the main story, I really hope that when they do return there is not a huge time skip because time works differently in the Ever After. It would suck if they returned and Oscar was fully Ozpin now and a bunch of people lost their lives trying to stop Salem without team RWBY

Time works different;y in this space so my hope is that a week at most or a couple days at best have past so they don't need to recap us much and the story can go forward with all this much gained development. I think Neo and Jaune will stay in the ever after tho. Neo has nothing in Remnant to go home to so her main desire atm is to give Ruby grief. Jaune on the other hand is so against the idea of that tree being an escape I think he would fight Team RWBY just to keep them from risking it.
