Random thoughts on SDS-XS- 1.4 (Patreon)

Good afternoon my dears! I hope you are doing alright today! 

I thought It'd be fun to point out a couple Easter eggs and things that lead to the strange turn of events in the latest section for Shark Dating Simulator. For those of you who have yet to check it out, there's minor spoilers up ahead so keep that in mind. 

- Initially the first starting room that the reader wakes up in was actually going to be designed after the room design featured in Super Smash bros for the Nintendo 64, shown in its intro video. This was quickly changed due to the iffy color and contrast the overall design gave. Too busy. 

- A much more minimalist design was decided on, with blues to reflect the general " ocean " vibe the VN has, and to help slowly sink the reader into a different, out of nowhere environment. 

- The cat poster was initially going to portray a cat surrounded by bombs, titled " Explodey passion Meow fighters!!! 3 " but I decided to put a hat on the cat instead. 

- The poster color pallet was inspired by a Naruto anime poster using the same colors.

- There was going to be a bit more interactions going on between Zane and his younger brother, including a jab at the latest Pokemon ( It's personal. ), but this too was decided against for pacing. 

- Sixteen pictures were used for reference for the suburban street background, four of them being anime screenshots. The color choice was mostly me winging it. It was initially VERY orange. 

- Seven photos were used for reference on the outside of the school. One of them was of a hospital. 

- A more upper perspective was used for the outside of the school because I was losing my mind over the designs of a school grounds.  

- I was going to include a variety of classmates who resembled sea-life but felt it might prolong the scene too long. Instead it was decided on one other human, koduerei, and the sea slug.

- koduerei initially had much lighter blonde hair and a small smile. As I stared at him long enough and squinted, I was horrified to find out I accidentally created a school boy Link.

- His redesign with closed eyes and a sharp smile was inspired by the classic kitsune fox spirit of Japan.

- ( I just realized he kind of looks like Kyo Soma from Fruits basket... F****! )

- I learned way more about majority school times in upperschool Japan than I have ever done in my own country. 

- The overall plot element of Shark-Chan's secret is directly based off Sailor Moon, including the quip of her needing to transform into a "Rasen Sailor " which is previously mentioned to also be an anime. ( Yes, that happens in Sailor moon too. Why?!  )

- The Sans Undertale finale was thrown in last minute by a nonsensical discussion I had with my roommate ending with " Well Toby Fox is in Smash and Pokemon now, so why the hell not?! "
