Progress Update #64 (Patreon)

Here's a first look at the next TBSP. Luna and Celestia are on vacation! Wearing the same outfits from season 9. I thought it would be appropriate since this is the first TBSP episode to come out after the finale.
I decided to skip the animatic with this one. It's a shorter episode, so I just started animating right away. The new style has been working pretty well, but some things are still a pain in the ass, like Luna's and Celestia's manes. There's no easy solution to it, it always requires a lot of setup in every scene.

But yeah, the main reason I adopted this new style was to make the characters more expressive. I've always tried to replicate that "flash" look of the show in the previous episodes, and it looked nice, but it was also very limiting. I don't know if you guys have seen some of the official sketches and storyboards for FiM, but I want to capture the same charm of those drawings.

I started the project working on this scene of Celestia fishing, mainly because I really wanted to animate her reaction to the piranha attack. But I also ended up animating a few water effects as well. So if you guys are interested, I uploaded all the assets from this scene, and they are available in the rewards page:
