These might be the final two sketches for now, just so that I don't push the next fully finished painting too far ahead. I would like to try to get into the habit of doing these types of sketches more often than I have in the past, but we'll see.

Time lapse videos and PSD files are in the attachments for all my fellow process nerds. 🤓

One thing I've noticed while doing this approach to sketching is that I feel a little bit less in control of my shape language compared to when I'm sketching with outlines. That might just be something I need practice to adjust to with the different workflow, but I might also experiment with temporary lineart to make sure the shape language is good, as long as that extra step doesn't take a disproportionate amount of extra time, which it very well might. It'll be interesting to see.

I hope you like the sketches!

Yes. That's all I can say. Yes.

Karmagik

I'm really liking that demon lady in the foreground of the first one. That outfit design is great!

Lee

You’ve actually been possessed by a demon, haven’t you? Good work demon, keep it up!

I would, *selfishly*, love it if we could do a vote on which of your recent sketches gets turned into final work. I'd also love it if we could get a triptych or something like that to make into a desktop wallpaper. Much Love!

God damn dude you’re gonna give me a heart attack. The one where she’s got the anal creampie dripping out of her ass has me all hot and bothered. These have all been amazing.

Oh, the final two sketches? Well, all of these sketches have been a tonne of fun and goodness, what a way to end this run! 😻😻😻😻😻 If you do decide to do more sketches like these in future, I'll definitely welcome them 😸 It'll be interesting to see your future experiments, perhaps reintroducing some amount of temporary lineart just to help with shapes and structure. I'd certainly enjoy seeing those results, as I'm sure we all would with more sketches 😉😸 And now to look at these sketches and hoo boy, right out of the gate, they are both so vibrant! With the multiple demon ladies, I immediately love the large contrast in tone. Warm reds and oranges on the exterior, with this gorgeous, cool blue haze from the outside ❤️💙 The textures, shapes and perspective of the scene all look great, I really like that brick pillar too, with this red glow hitting it from the inside. The colours for the ladies look gorgeous too, with different tones of red affecting them all, most vibrant and rich for the foreground demon, growing steadily cooler as they recede towards that blue light. All three are beautifully rendered, with their shapes and forms given so much definition. I really like the background lady, with that soft, cool light bathing her from the front and the way she lifts her head to greet it. The white lighting and shine spots pops so nicely on her and I love her thigh, white edge-light along the top, with hints of that soft red glow hitting her leg from below. The foreground girl is simply divine! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I adore the rich, red lighting that tints and accentuates her hair. Her attire is so very sexy too, ith those shining straps framing and wrapping around her ample breasts, each with their own voluptuous shapes and perfect shine, with her nipples looking particularly delightful and textured. Her face is gorgeously rendered too, the white light on the nose, red on her jaw and the shine on her eyelids and lips all look so nice! And of course, the centrepiece lady... Her pose is so incredibly sexy! Love the long, curving motions of her arched back and curling tail, as well as the hair that drapes over her. The pale-blue lighting hitting her hair is a great contrast to her rich, red skin too 💙❤️ Of course, the red glow on her left side and undersides looks gorgeous as well and hot damn, the way she's perched there, voluptuous booty in full view, drenched with and oozing goop... Just super naughty, fun and sexy too 😻😻😻😻😻 _____________________________________________ Now for the second one! Should I even bother with the obligatory "I'll try to be briefer" line at this point? 😅 Well, I really enjoy the colours in this scene. With warm-tinted, natural green colours and earthen roads in the top half, but with cool purples in the shadows. Really gives the scene a lovely contrast in its tones and I think the purples add to the magic of the atmosphere. Makes sense since we're dealing with demons and an elf too 😸 And because it's me... I just love to see purple! 💜💜💜💜💜 Perhaps you've a bit of purple on the brain, from the previous sketches, with purple flowers and the green grass and earthen roads. Either way, it is nice to see that colour scheme appearing once more here 💜 As for the characters, it looks like our elf here is being introduced to the joys of demon men... Judging by her expression, I'm guessing it was a good first impression 😉😹 Even though we don't see much of his body, I do like the shadows with subtle pink-purple tinting that helps to define what we see of his hips. Likewise, the mix of reds and purple-pink tinting on the other demon look fantastic too. I really like the pink edge-lighting on her shoulder and arm, as well as down her thigh. With the purple-pink tinting of the skin on the thigh and calf looking really gorgeous. The warm light that bathes her horns and face, with cooler, purple shadows are a great contrast and really define her features, with the shine spots providing lovely highlights. The elf lady now... hoo boy 😻😻😻😻😻 She is just so vibrant, again, I adore that warm light that bathes her, with the large shadows across her right side providing a striking contrast and really defining her features. Her mid-section and thighs look perfect with the warm light side-by-side with cool shadows. And I like that her whole right arm is kept in cool tones, providing yet more contrast with the warm tones. And wow, her breasts are so beautiful. I keep saying it but those warm, sunbathed skin tones, framed by cool shadows looks so perfect and gives them such great definition. The textures of her skin are perfect and I adore the shapes of her nipples. Of course, all of the white goop across her body adds even more contrast, while further defining her forms, particularly her breasts as it wraps around them and clings to them 😸 And I really like her white hair, being tinted red where it comes close to the demon's skin. With the elf's face being nicely framed by the white hair, making her vibrant colours pop even more. Likewise, her blue eyes look dstinct against her warm skin tones. Aaaaaaaaand I'm done! Huzzah! I clearly love these sketches, I think you've done a fantastic style and it's really cool to see this style. I've always thought of your style as being this painterly, semi-realistic style. Lots of texture and great use of forms and anatomy, then being exaggerated to make really interesting and fun scenes and character designs. These more simplified versions of your main style are a tonne of fun and it's great to see how much of your vibrant colours and strong use of contrast, rendering and textures we still get to see here 😸😸😸 Suffice to say, I'm a huge fan of both the full paintings and these incredible "sketches" too! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

The downsides of voting on sketches sadly weren't worth it, so I'm not super likely to bring that back I'm afraid. 😅 And a triptych can get tricky since in order to be happy with them I'd have to match colors, themes and compositions so they go well together. Working on similar paintings for as long as that requires is a bit much unfortunately. But I'll do more 16x9 landscape format paintings for sure! Lately I've been doing the portrait format paintings and sketches because just I'd been doing so many 16x9 ones before. :)

Thanks, Ciarán! It's been really fun to paint the lighting in particular, so I especially appreciate hearing you like that part of these. 😄

I love seeing all the sketches! Its a cool insight into how you work and how you put ideas down on the canvas!

Austen Jacobsen

Love the art as always, man. Srsly. What program are you drawing in? And with what tablet?

Benjamin

Amazing! All of these deserve to be fully fleshed out paintings. Can't wait for what you will chose to make the next full work.

Thank you! I've been working in Paintstorm Studio for a few years now. Been considering getting more used to Krita or Clip Studio paint though, since their toolsets are a bit more comprehensive. My tablet is just an old Intuos Pro, nothing special. And I kinda don't enjoy it but have never found anything I think I'd enjoy more at a reasonable price lol.

I just watched one of your time lapse videos! Which I should have done A LONG TIME AGO! And I just NOW NOTICED you don't use line art! You do everything with a small to semi wide brush. Sir- YOU ARE A MASTER AT LIGHT! My intention was to try and see your technique on how you draw fluids. (I have a hard time with light and shadow casting) Thank you for sharing your time lapse videos- Not many artist will do that, and that helps us (non-good artist) out. Thank you so much Calm for sharing your art, style and technique's with us. Keep up the great work! -SoundGate Audio

Alex

I NEED the second one with the boob-job as a finished painting :o the eye & hair color and the scene is just stunning

I'm absolutely loving these sketches Calm. I'm downloading the psd's and doing some studies. Trying to draw with Hard Light layers while watching your recordings. All of these resources are super helpful. I'm finishing up an online fantasy illustration class right now and I can't wait to do some of my own pieces with these bright colors like you. Cheers man, thanks so much. Keep it up

I do kinda flip-flop between no line art and rough line art when sketching to experiment with what works well. Recently I feel like I've had success with no line art, but I'll probably still continue to experiment. I'm glad you like how it turns out, and happy to hear you find the videos useful. :)
