#101: Happy holidays! (Patreon)

I hope you'll all have happy holidays! Maybe celebrate the same way she's been doing? 👀

Like I mentioned in the previous post, over the next several illustrations I'll be trying to focus more squarely at the parts of my skills that I feel need improvements most, and a part of that right now will involve lowering the scope a bit for each painting, and focus on characters and isolated action rather than full environments. This illustration is one example of that, but I'd like future ones to have more action than this too.

The intention with this is to allow me go through the process from start to finish more rapidly, without getting caught up in weeks of noodling on environmental details. I obviously enjoy trying to make detailed environments, and I'll definitely return to painting them later, but right now they take my attention away for long periods of time from what I think will benefit my art most and what helps my skills grow most effectively. So, in short, over the next few months my focus is likely to be squarely on painting just characters and juicy action.

Alright, I just want to keep you guys in the loop on my thought process here, so there you go. 👍 And this also means I'll be posting stuff a bit more frequently, which I hope you'll appreciate. :) Good stuff coming up, hopefully! I'm excited.

PS: I've attached the Paintstorm Studio brush I used to paint this, if you want it. (It uses Paintstorm-specific brush settings, so it doesn't work in other software, sorry!)
