Hey, here's painting number one hundred! I hope you like it! Luke's found his way into the company of a bunch of demons again, and they're hungry. 👀

The past few weeks have felt a bit more hectic than I'm used to. The end of the year unfortunately has a habit of being like that. But I'm still trying my best to paint stuff! 🤓

This painting in particular was a little bit challenging. I was a bit ambitious and picked a few tricky angles and tricky lighting, and I was bumbling around a bit when experimenting with my workflow. You'll probably notice that when you look at the process, where I scrapped all my colors at one point and reverted to values. That's not great, and added a bunch of unnecessary time to the process, but I guess it turned out alright anyway. If you're looking at my process for tips on what to do when painting, maybe don't do that bit, lol. Instead learn from my mistakes and keep your workflow more tidy and organized than mine!

Going forward I hope I'll keep myself from being tempted to veer too far off of what I know works well, and instead focus more directly on practicing my drawing skills (as opposed to my painting/rendering skills). I feel like I'm pretty good at rendering, but the initial drawings that are supposed to lay the foundation for the paintings have more room for improvement. I'm not bad at drawing or anything, but it is probably my weakest area, relatively speaking, and I want to make those foundations stronger. So I might try to choose my next projects with that in mind. Let's see how that goes.

Thanks for supporting me, everyone. I hope you'll all have a nice and peaceful December. 😄

This is your best work yet. I'm fascinated to see all the thought you put into the details of form. I think it's good that you experiment even if you sometimes reach dead ends and have to back track. That may be why this painting is so successful. I'm very confident in my drawing skills but have a lot to learn from you about rendering. If you don't mind me asking, how long did this piece take you to do this, all in?
