Twilight: We Are Venom! - chapter 17 (Patreon)
Content
True to his word, the muscular vampire guided us to his coven, one by one, we saw them, the woman we thought we had saved, now a vampire, the mind reader, the coven leader and his wife, everyone was there but Alice, "Where is Alice?" we hissed to the muscular vampire, promising violence if he had lied to us.
"Venom, or Jack?" Edward greeted, and knowing he could read our minds, we made it clear to him, that this was not a friendly meeting, "I understand.... Alice is getting close, I know you can smell the two vampires to the west, they are only a minute or so away,"
We looked at him for a second, and thought, what did we have to lose... other than time, there was nothing, so for now, we would wait, "Fine," we hissed lowly.
As we waited, we focused on the scent coming towards us, two vampires, one male and one female, the female smelled of cologne, with a hint of something oddly familiar, was it our Alice?
"I've arrived!" A joyful, energetic voice announced, and our bodies froze as we saw what we couldn't believe, our Alice, it was her, she... was... alive.... "Hello?" she greeted somewhat timidly, and our words were caught in our throat.
What were we supposed to say to her? We're sorry? We miss you? "She doesn't know what to say to you," Edward, who had been reading our minds, said.
"Hi would be a start," Alice said jokingly.
She hadn't changed at all, the way she was, the way she laughed.... everything was still the same, the only thing that had changed was her diet, but the rest... she was still our little chipmunk, "Hi..." we greeted her, extending a paw to shake her hand, "We are.... Venom.... but you knew us as Jack,"
"Hi Venom... or Jack, nice to meet you again!" Alice smiled, grabbing my claw without any fear, "Sorry if this question sounds ugly... but what are you?"
Hearing this question, we laughed, that's exactly how we imagined our Alice asking what we were, "We are... something, unique," we answered her, without giving too many details, for now we didn't want to chat about it, for now we wanted to just see her....
"I thought you'd be more overprotective," Emmett the muscular vampire, murmured to Jasper thinking we couldn't hear him.
" Out of everyone here, other than me, he's the least likely to hurt her, I can feel his emotions, and the vast majority of them are positive," Jasper smiled for a second, before returning to his natural peaceful face, "The other part... is guilt, guilt crippling,"
"Guilt?" Alice said, looking at us with a smile, "I barely know you, but I know what happened to me is not your fault," maybe not, but... we could have avoided it, "Besides... if I hadn't been transformed... I wouldn't have met Jasper!"
"You're hopelessly optimistic," we laughed.
"Now, tell me about you, about me... about our home before all this! I want to know all about our family!" Alice said with a smile, leading us to a log for us to sit on to tell the story.
And with nothing else to do, we started, from the moment we saw her being born to the moment our father tried to make us believe she was dead, we didn't leave out anything in our story, telling her even the fight where we killed the vampire that had turned her, wait .... now that we think about it, did we kill that vampire? by that time, we didn't know we had to burn them, which means that him and the Black Eyed Peas lookalikes are still alive.
"So what happened next?" Alice, seeing our sudden pause, asked.
"In anger, we blamed the vampires for your fate... and for the last few years we dedicated ourselves to killing every vampire we came across, at least until we met the Olympian coven," we answered, making Carlisle smile, "Before them? the concept that the demons that had separated us were capable of compassion seemed impossible, so we investigated... and many of our prey knew of them... of their strange diet, of their rules, and well... not much has happened since that epiphany,"
"So our father was a jerk," Alice pouted, "And one vampire was hunting me, and another one turned me to save me.... What a story,"
"In short, yes..." we nodded.
"I have a question," Emmett raised his hand, as if he were in a classroom, "Why do you always refer to yourself using the we pronoun?"
"Because we are two, and at the same time we are one," we replied.
"That's why I hear two voices in your head, isn't it?" Edward asked, and we nodded.
"One is Jack's voice, and the other is the voice of the Symbiote, together... we make Venom," we replied, "It's kinda complicated..."
"I have a question... or rather, something to say, I really don't care what you are, or if you have a million voices in your head, or if you eat vampires... for me you will always be my guardian angel... the one who saved me from suffering a fate worse than eternal death," Rosalie smiled, "So.. I guess what I want to say is... Thank you, for being there when I need it the most,"
"Thank you for helping my rose before I met her," Emmett said in a sincere tone, extending his hand.
"We did what we had to do," we replied, taking his hand, in a gesture of friendship.
"Well, now that I know where I come from, and that I have a big brother, how about we go back to forks?!" Alice exclaimed cheerfully, already assuming we were going with her, which was true… though the fact of being with a pack of bloodsuckers didn’t sit very well with us.
"It's not like you're easy prey," Edward snorted, once again reading our mind, asshole, "I can't help it,"
"We hate you," we told him.
"...Wait a minute, are you immortal?" Alice asked all of the sudden, which was a somewhat unexpected question.
"Yes… I suppose," I said, letting Venom hide within my body, showing them what I looked like without the suit, "My body doesn't age… I’ve been this age… for a long time,"
“Oh goody! I will have my brother for ages to come!” Alice cheered, and I chuckled, she was already treating me with such familiarity, and that made me feel less... of a failure.
“You sure will,” I chuckled.
“Sir,” Jasper, who had been quiet all this time, approached me, “The name is Jasper Whitlock, Sir, and I would like to formally ask you permission to court your sister, and marry her,” well… that was unexpected.
“I don’t think I have control about who she dates, but you have my blessing I guess,” I chuckled.
“I won’t disappoint sir,” Jasper smiled.
