Shooting this exposure was shooting virtually blind. It was shot with a Polaroid 600SE which is a rangefinder focus camera. The viewfinder is in no way attached to the optical elements of the camera, so it is just there for framing and focusing purposes.

Reed and I captured digital test shots as I moved the prism around the front of my lens. Once I sorted out where I wanted to hold the prism Reed took an iPhone photo of my hand placement over the lens. I then I mounted my digital and placed the 600SE on the tripod. We reviewed the placement photos and as closely tried to mimic that in front of the lens of the Polaroid camera including placement and distance from the lens.

120 seconds after the film and been pulled through the rollers it was ready to peel.
The subtle distortion around Reed creating a slight halo effect coupled with the spread of processing chemicals across the expired film created this beautiful exposure.
I scanned the Polaroid at a 6400dpi and had it printed at 18.96x24 inches then centered and adheased the original to the print.

While you stand far away from the piece you can clearly see the entire exposure. As you get closer and stand right in front of it you can see all of the detail of the exposure in the print then focus in on the original centered on the piece.

Reed and I shot several exposures this day with the intent to pick one for the show. After our fun with the Polaroid 669 Type was finished, I picked up my SX-70 for some exposures with that as well! The above image is what it looks like hung in the gallery. Enjoy!

These exposures were shot on Polaroid 669 Type Color film with a Polaroid 600SE and Polaroid SX-70 Type Color film with a Polaroid SX-70 Sonar OneStep.
