As you might remember, a few weeks ago I asked you if you wanted text (.txt) files for some of books—mostly notably the 20 Things line.

I’m back with another question, today:

Would you also like other editions (such as epub) of our 20 Things line?

I’ve uploaded a zip file to this post which contains versions of Mike Welham’s 20 Things #62: Sunken Ship designed for Apple Books, Google Play, Kindle, Kobo and Nook.

I would love your feedback both on whether you would actually find these files useful and on the format of the book. I don’t have any devices for the Google Play, Kobo or Nook editions, and I’d be keen to find out if they display properly and suchlike.

Anyway, please vote and let me have your thoughts.

As always, thank you for supporting Raging Swan Press.

I currently don't have a tablet, so at least for now I am happy with physical and pdf formats. This may change in the future... Please only support formats that are generated by your publishing software and do not requir eextra manual labour.

Hi Creighton! While I do often use an iPhone to read Raging Swan products, I’ve actually never had any problems reading the regular pdf files. I typically just use the Books app on my phone. I do sometimes need to zoom in a little to read the font, but that’s not a problem for me. I’ve used .epub files for other products, and while the phone/tablet-specific format was nice, I really didn’t find it necessary. I really appreciate you always wanting to make the customers’ experiences better, and in this case, I would hate to see you have to do what probably equates to a great deal of extra work for a slight convenience on our end. As for the text files, I would find those handy, as I often re-create 20 Things tables in various other programs (such as VTT or campaign dashboards) and it seems like it will be much easier to copy and paste the .txt files than trying to copy and paste text from a pdf or wholly retyping the information. Have a great day!

I don't know if this helps but usually the Books app displays the pdf just fine on my ipad.

Hmm, I appear to be at odds with those voting on the poll. However, I *love* having ePUBs for quick reference on the go. The PDFs will always be more useful at the table on my laptop or Chromebook during a game. However, if I'm on the go somewhere and inspiration strikes me it would be nice to have an ePUB that I can read easily on my phone. This would work really well with a pocket notebook for quick DM notes! I use Google Play Books (I'm an Android user) and your sample ePUB looks great on my phone. I seem to recall that you posed the question a few years ago and provided "20 Things #41: Ruined Wizard’s Tower" as an example. I loved the idea then and I still love it.

I'm quite happy with the PDFs. Even when I read on my tablet, I prefer the layout and pagination of the PDFs over the pure text of epubs. I tend to find things based on the page, and it's helpful when print aligns with digital, such as with PDFs.

ePub/Mobi are great when I need them but PDF seems more universal. More importantly, your pdfs (unlike many game companies- looking at you Paizo) have always been highly readable on all of my various devices. Also given text/pdf option anything else needed is quickly done as needed in Calibri
