We are back in the dungeon this week, with one of my favourite dungeon features—pits. Pits are often overlooked as traps; they can be pretty boring, after all. They open, one or more characters fall in and then the characters climb out.

(Or do they as this epic new image from Matt Morrow suggests?)

Pits can be so much more, though—they can hint at the story of  previous explorers,  serve as the start of a memorable encounter or even propel the characters into an entirely new part of the dungeon! (Check out B5 Horror on the Hill one of my all-time favourite adventures for such a mechanic).

I hope you use this week’s Dungeon Dressing instalment to add depth (do you see what I did there?) and flavour to the pits in your campaign.

We’ve also got another Monstrous Lair instalment for you. This week, we explore a duergar outpost. If you ever plan to run an adventure in the deep, dark places of the world this—and similar Monstrous Lairs such as our drow and derro instalments—will help you quickly whip up the details of a mini-dungeon.

Where's My Stuff?

As always, by the time you get this you should have a message from me containing the special secret download codes for these books. Just drop them into your browser and you should be good to go. If you have any problems, just drop me a line and I'll sort it out for you.

Thank You!

As always, thank you for your epic support. It means the world to me, and I’m honoured you find our supplements worthy of inclusion in your campaign. I'd also like to welcome our new members--Christopher Kearney, Martin Bailey, Alexandre Ferraz and Tiago Frossard--who have all joined us this week.

If you’ve got a minute, I’d love to know what else we could do to make your campaign even easier to run. Feel free to leave a comment below, drop me an email or DM me on Discord.

Good luck with your game, and have a cracking weekend.
