WF until you get home safely! If you bought a kit, you are at WF until you finish your parts check!

Why am I writing this sentence on my phone on the train on my way home....!

So I participated in WF again this time. It was boiling hot from early in the morning, and I'm sure there were some people who felt that the venue could use a little more ventilation or air conditioning. I felt the same way.

As I have already mentioned, there were about seven works that I helped to create exhibited at this year's WF. I am very happy to see that many people were able to see them at each dealer's table, and that they were able to pick up the kits!

Some of the kits could not be exhibited due to some reasons, but that is to be expected.

So, here is my personal report on this WF.

Sorry I didn't take any pictures of the companies, even though the eye-catching image is of their booths!

┃Personally, I found the WF quite fulfilling.

This time I was near a table that had a special exhibit. I was able to take a good look at the works, have my picture taken, and talk with the people who approached me. I was also able to meet and greet people I wanted to talk to personally during my free time.

I had a great time talking with prototype makers, finishers, and modelers. However, there were many people I wanted to meet but could not.

I was personally very curious as to why a professional who works in the field of painting also works in the field of 3D modeling, so I was glad to hear the answer to that question. I thought it would be more enjoyable if I could create works of art through the whole process.

I am not a regular visitor to Tokyo except for events like this, so in a sense, events may be my lifeline, or perhaps my motivation, as I live alone. Too serious... I live in the countryside and there are no modelers nearby.

Ah...it's over...I should participate in events again...

┃Overseas (not Japanese) dealers have been very active.

I was mostly in halls 4 to 6 this time, and it was obvious that the number of overseas dealers had increased compared to previous WF.

All of the overseas dealers had very high modeling skills and the coloring was at a level that made me feel as if they were PVC finished product samples. The coloring was at such a high level that you would think it was a PVC finished product sample.

The promotion with beautiful photos that could be mistaken for corporate promotional materials...it was clear that the amount of effort put into the event was different.

Naturally, there is a cost issue, so there is no way that an individual dealer can easily imitate the event. I was thinking about this for a while.

I am sure that overseas dealers will continue to gain momentum in the future, so we need to pay attention to them, but we also need to consider what kind of position and purpose we should take at each event.

It is not wrong to think that having fun is all that is necessary, but I felt that if that is the only thing we do, we will soon be swallowed up.

However, I personally think that in such a situation, you may be able to find a way out just by shifting your viewpoint a little.

┃Acrylic disks are inexpensive! Hazaiya is great!

On Monday, the day after WF was over, I went to Hazaiya to find an appropriate size in acrylic disks.

They used to sell it on the second floor, but now they seem to be selling it on the first floor.

You can buy such a large quantity for about 5,000 yen.

Acrylic disks are often priced at 1,000 yen or more per piece when ordered individually, but Hazaiya's outlet products are calculated at the unit price of grams x 2, regardless of size or thickness.

So, if you buy 2.5 kg, the price is 5,000 yen. Cheap! This time I bought more than 15 sheets of more than 5mm thick, which is obviously cheaper than ordering online normally, so if you have a chance, go for it. The problem is that if you buy too many, they are too heavy to carry home. Hahaha!

In the next post, I will post photos of the work of the dealers I was interested in.

How has the reception of overseas sculptors been throughout the years?

SUKIMA SANGYO

Gradually in recent years, sculptors, from China, have been gaining strength and bringing their masterpieces to the WF. What is frightening is that some of the kits have already undercoating such as putty filling, seam line removal, pinning, and so on. This is something that would not be possible in Japan because it is too costly. They have started to bring in and sell products that are unthinkable from the conventional wisdom. The quality of modeling is very high. They are serious about selling their work as a product, and I think that inevitably raises the overall quality. To change the subject, but it is a little strange that we still don't see American or European sculptors at the WF. I'm sure it's not for lack of interest, as some of the spectators travel all the way from those areas…
