This is not really related to production, but I suddenly remembered a book I read a long time ago that said something like, "Good players appreciate and listen to good works.

┃How to improve your taste in garage kits

This is exactly right, and I believe that players who create good works of art, whether in music or painting, are constantly improving their own sense of taste by watching, listening to, and experiencing excellent works of art.

By carefully looking at excellent works, one can think about what one is lacking and input various information. This process is an inevitable part of creating any kind of work.

The same can be said for the coloring of garage kits. You may think it is just a model, but why do you need to put those shadows and highlights? Why place that color there? How do you create those colors? What kind of lighting should be used for the photo? When you think about all of this, you realize that you are not just painting on a model, but that this is a kind of "creation.

Of course, in the sample coloring of mass-produced products, I don't think any of this thinking is necessary, and I think it is better not to think about it, as it will only become noise.

However, in personal project, it is interesting to carefully consider each step of the process and discover various things.

There are good reasons why players stay at the top, and there is background information that is never told.

And I personally believe that this is something that is undeniably reflected in a person's work.

I feel that this is especially true for those who are well known for their sample coloring of mass-produced products. I don't know, though, because I have never heard of them. haha!

┃When you publish your work, it's important to have the ambition to be better than anyone else

Basically, I am the type of person who thinks that it is meaningless to compare my work with others, so I compare it with my own past work to determine whether I have improved or not.

However, whether I have a finished product on the Internet or not, I always work with the idea of making my work better than anyone else's.

This is a policy that has not changed at all since I started working seriously on GK figure about five years ago.

I am kind to others, but I am very stoic towards myself. hehe

Before I post a finished photo on Twitter, I ask myself, "Did I do this better than anyone else who has posted a finished photo on the Internet? If I think it's not good enough, I often stop and readjust it.

But I finally feel more or less confident that I have improved a lot since I started working on the GK, thanks to my continued efforts.

I imagine that those who work mainly on coloring samples for companies may have been thinking, "I'm going to make it better, prettier, and more beautiful than anyone else!

This kind of ambition is extremely important. As for myself, I feel that I have lived my life only with the pursuit of technical information and the desire to improve.

┃Cultivate your eyes and ears with excellent works of art

Well, putting all that nonsense aside, there is one thing I actually want to say.

Players who create good works of art are looking at good works of art.

Even if you make garage kits, I think it is quite important to cultivate your eyes and sensibility by looking carefully at things other than figure works, and you can do it at any age.

It was late afternoon, and I vaguely thought that seeing a lot of good music, paintings, illustrations, cartoons, writings, sounds, videos, and other things that I liked would probably influence my own output in the future.
