Proof of Life #221: Rough ETA on next update (Patreon)

Hello everyone, how's it going today/toafternoon/tonight? I hope all's well and you're in a good mood, for your sake and mine^^

I'll keep this PoL relatively short, because I don't have a whole lot to say and I want to go back to work ASAP^^

So first of all, I want to say that the new update won't be out this week. The story's almost a wrap, but I still have two scenes to make, and those tend to take a good amount of time until they're finished because of how technical they can be with the mix of sounds, sprites, camera angles, etc..., and I also usually write a lot more slowly when developing a sex scene because the dialogues and descriptions don't come out as naturally as when I'm doing the story.

As for the ETA, I'd say somewhere next week, not 100% sure when. As I said above, the amount of work and time needed to make a single scene tend to depend on many factors, and I'm not sure how long it'll take for the artists to finish the animations needed.

Lastly, I wanted to apologize for taking so long to finish this update. I'm not working less, or slower, and I'm not busy with something else, I just completely misjudged the time it might take to complete it. Heck, I just counted all the new maps, and there are exactly 19 of them. I know you're not used to wait this long (today's screenshot has been chosen specifically because it probably reflects your feelings), and I'm sorry about that.

So, hum, somewhere between the 14th and 19th of this month would be my best bet for Update 13's release.

I enjoyed reading the thoughts someone had on Haylen and Ulrod last week, so I figured I’d write out my own thoughts about how Ulrod and Cyanna’s relationship could develop. So as a preface, I think that people should understand about the military is that the focus on presentation and performance in the military serves a really important function. Everyone in the unit needs to see companions and their leaders as reliable so they keep faith in them when shit’s going down. I read somewhere that US generals tend to be over 6ft tall, which makes sense in that it helps them look like a more imposing and reliable leader, which is important. So you might see where this is going lol. Ulrod using his influence over Cyanna to make her, or trick her, into doing embarrassing or subservient things in front of the troops would help make clear to everyone the new power structure. I think that displays like this could help re-order the power structure, and start to make it clear to the guard that the militia troops have more political power now, so should naturally be deferred to by the guard in all kinds of things. I think this is something the Duke at least would totally understand, and encourage Ulrod to do. Specifically, the things that Ulrod could serve the purpose of publicly subordinating her, and by extension the guard could be more uniform changes for her (maybe adding a collar, or something symbolic like that?), having her run errands for him like getting him a drink during military drills, or even more explicit things like slapping her ass in public. What do you all think? Does this make sense, and sound like fun to you all?

With the update on the horizon I have one simple request for the next update: can it finally be the update where Cyanna's story stops being so goddamn depressing?

Yeah, I can see this working actually. That's kind of the direction I wanted to go with them anyway, hence the "sexy armor" Ulrod forced Cyanna to wear. There'll also be something along those lines happening in this update, although it'll be at the very end and won't be apparent until the next MQ update : )

Y-yeah... Totally... Party hats and glitter bombs during sex scenes, maybe a few mariachis as well... The issue is that Cyanna isn't exactly a party animal^^ The problem with Cyanna is that her storyline revolves around her abandoning her principles and ideals, and since she isn't the type to kick around and make a fuss like Lily or Rose would, her scenes have a tendency to naturally gravitate towards a more depressing tone. It should slowly change though, as she gets more and more used to the idea of sex and perversion though.

All I'm asking for is a scene or two where it doesn't feel like she's being bullied by her partner. Because Ulrod has been a giant asshole so far and it's not fun. Won't even require a major change just... a scene that doesn't feel like she's being raped by her childhood bully.

No. Rose, Haylen, and Lily are all having scenes that don't centre around emotional abuse. Are they being manipulated? Yes, but that doesn't mean their scenes have to come across like Cyanna's do. Rose is the closest equivalent to what Cyanna is going through and her scenes don't involve her partner bullying her into submission.

idk man, I feel like what you're asking for doesn't fit the characters personalities. Ulrod is a guy with a lot of trauma, I mean, it seems like he cares about Cyanna in his own way, but he isnt really shown showing warmth to anyone. Even the Duke just gets cold loyalty. To me it seems like what you're asking for is pretty out of character for him, and both him an Cyanna are pretty reserved, stoic personalities. Also, I don't really think you can call Ulrod Cyanna's childhood bully. Seems like they were friends before, and he had to live his live as a slave because he scarified himself for her. It sucks that you don't like these scenes, but maybe all routes don't have to appeal to everyone. There are plenty of people that apricate and like their dynamic as it is.

if you had played the Previous version Henteria Chronicles 2 you wouldn't have liked the Edwar or Zeno Characters then, they both came across as major ass-hats and bullied both female characters.. as a "proud" female character Cyanna is supposed to be a beacon of strength and resolve.. but she is giving up on her morals and principles by allowing herself to be used/ toyed with, which is a big shot to her Ego and being a proud person she cannot fully accept defeat.. also she has romantic feelings for the main male character which in turn makes her feel like she is betraying him, although he see' s her only as his "sister" so she is sad about that as well, so after all that to expect her to be completely ok with all this so soon into it make NO sense and wouldn't add a hint defiance to her character,,, still have not played this and I think I will finally play this game by either the 16th or the 17th update.. I cannot wait to see the revenge ending... I thoroughly enjoy your games...
