i mentioned the goal was to stream weekly, so i guess that's a thing i'll be doing here: https://www.twitch.tv/msx2plus - it'll kind of be "whenever" each week and i'll usually give 30 mins to an hour notice on here and on the discord, as well as my twitter most times, as i figure why not just do them publicly. i don't want patreon people to feel like they aren't getting the Super Secret Streams they might want, but thanks to twitch's lack of privacy options and the fact that this shit leaks anyways, it only makes sense. i've also enabled storing of past broadcasts, so streams will be available for 14 days after their original broadcast (that's the limit without twitch prime, which i'm not really sold on yet lol)

as well, i'm working out the plans for the monthly physical releases. i'm going to shoot to launch them on the first weekend of each month, and i'll get the $10 tier their 20% discount codes before that. i'll be sending out a newsletter with more detail once i work it out. it's gonna be a busy year, but i'm looking to square away some debts and save some money, which will probably alleviate a ton of anxiety lmao. if i wind up having enough to make it happen, i would like to do a patreon-exclusive merch release by the end of the year.

that's it for now! i'm fully aware new music has been very slow, and i'm hoping that doing some streams might get me more excited about making some stuff happen. it's been a few of the most stressful weeks in recent memory, so i'm doing what i can to shake it off and power through it. extremely looking forwards to the end of winter

Offering $100 for new electro house Mayhem song, circa 2008-2011. Lollercoaster optional. Not a joke.

not gonna make something i have no excitement for or investment in at the moment. that's how garbage gets made.

You're right. $500, administered over the course of three months.

lapfox

you are not going to get anywhere by sweetening the deal. i'll gladly be paid for busywork or design gigs, but i'm not going to do something that detracts joy from my most important expressive tool when i'm in a place where it's already difficult enough.

Can you be sure it detracts joy today? When was the last time you attempted? Times change. It could be the surprise catalyst you're looking for to get back into a good flow now. New offer: DDR-length Toy Box remix of whatever song you wish for use in developing simfile pack.

lapfox

i can be and am extremely sure i'm not looking for offers that pay. if somebody has an idea i'm interested in i'm just as likely to run with it unpaid as i am paid.

Okay, let's brainstorm. -What does a blade of grass hear as civilization builds around it? -Where does sound end? What does that place sound like? -What is the story behind an old, weathered game cartridge?

@DJ Vee I'm not trying to brown-nose, but I think you may have Patreon confused with arts patronage during the Renaissance. Artists owe you NOTHING, the totality of someone's output is already a tremendous undertaking. Besides, there's tons more of that brand of electro out there, you just gotta look for it.

Three weeks have passed since this conversation happened. It was dead until you decided to revive it. Remember that going forward. If a creative doesn't use their tools, then their tools will become rusty, and it can be utter hell scraping that off. I've experience with this firsthand; I'm still recovering from my 5 month long 2016 sabbatical I took while I was without an effective computer, scrounging the parts together for my current one. I really lost my groove during that period and though I've released things since then because they were already in the works (it still took ages), I am at a constant loss creatively on where to go next. I've become intolerably lazy about it now as a result, and it's so, so hard to break out of that. I have a gameplan, but it's text on a picture until I can make them happen, and I'm having a real hard time with that. EH!Mayhem, Toy Box, this is basic stuff that can be produced quickly with a high return for relatively low investment. They're guaranteed crowd pleasers: fans would go absolutely nuts and Emma would be staying familiar with their workstation. It's a win/win for all parties. Notice the final post, the one you replied to, and understand: it wasn't about the personal want for these sounds at the end of the day, not really. It was about keeping the tools sharp. I was willing to happily buy the whetstone. And yeah, Emma owes me nothing, but my livelihood isn't based on my music output. Theirs is. Deride me all you want, but you know as well as I do they're out of the groove, and I was willing to front it for them to try and break back in to it. Taking advantage of my impulse would have been nothing but beneficial for them and I would have been fine with it.

Well dangit, it's been revived! I can appreciate the sentiment, but it comes off as more of a demand rather than a suggestion, regardless of phrasing. I wouldn't worry too much; crowdpleasing music or no, Emma knows how to reinvent & survive through their art. This conversation, let alone this Patreon, is a testament to that.
