While what forcing her to dye her hair represents is horrible, I do see at least two silver linings (highlights? maybe no hair puns right now.) This will likely be a much bigger red flag to others that Star is under some kinda duress than Marellis even thinks. He needs all this to stay a secret just as much as Star. And second, she can always dye it back. She shouldn't have too, but sometimes you have to lose a battle to win the war.

What if she just gets a wig to make him believe that she did dye it, and then when she gets help with the mistery person on the other side of the phone (I believe they are Misty) she would take the wig off right when the general is being arrested, as an even bigger slap on the face. But I also believe that dyeing her hair is part of an accurate representation of manipulation/abuce/toxic relationship (I been in micro situations like that, and I know that I it's a red flag that people inabusive relationships often experience).
