Did you hear CrossFade is back? Well, it is! And we’re kicking off Season 2 with none other than streamer, podcaster, and video game guy on the internet Dan Ryckert!

You know Dan from Fire Escape Cast, Panning the Stream, The MinnMax Show, Trivia Tower, The Deepest Dive, Max Spoilers, and probably a bunch of other places. Dan picked “Chinese Democracy” by Guns N’ Roses and Matt chose “Love It to Death” by Alice Cooper. Leave your questions about these very on-brand picks (or anything you wanna ask) below and we’ll try to bring it up on the show!

We’re recording this episode Thursday, February 3, so leave your questions and song suggestions by then for your best chance of making the cut.

Here’s what you need to know about season 2:

  • Still biweekly on Friday
  • Still taking two albums head-to-head with interesting guests from music, games, and more
  • More one-offs, news, specials, and commentary episodes
  • More community involvement (that’s you, so tell us what you want to hear on the show!)

CrossFade is a music podcast hosted by Minneapolis music guru and former Game Informer editor Matt Helgeson and produced by Jason Dafnis where Matt and a guest each choose one of their favorite albums and get the other to review it on-air. Season 1 guests included Nextlander’s Alex Navarro, Van Halen historian Greg Renoff, composers like Austin Wintory and Gareth Coker, THPS producer Ralph D’Amato, Mike Park of Asian Man Records, guitarist Matt Sweeney, and a buuuuunch more.

We also take questions and song suggestions from the community, so keep your eyes peeled for each post, leave us a review on iTunes, and hop in the #music channel of the MinnMax Discord server to get involved. Thanks for listening!

We publish every other Friday, so subscribe, rate, and review wherever you get podcasts: https://apple.co/3kWBb5K

Welcome back Matt and Jason! In your opinion, which band or artist had the most interesting music style conversion?   For me-Tom Waits transition from "Billy Joel at a shittier bar" to carnival barker. *song* U2 w/Johnny Cash-The Wanderer https://open.spotify.com/track/4163s5AIcfezLq6kpncyvB?si=LaFST2spS5y9VoffDUhpaw&utm_source=copy-link

Welcome back! What long running band do you wish would stop making music and just retire already? Here's a link to Dallas Beltway by Chat Pile. They're a small band from OKC who avoid being categorized but fit in somewhere in the Sludge/Metal scene. They have that anger and despair that only a band from the Midwest could have. https://open.spotify.com/track/2t0ReKFddrNiLfkqluPu4m?si=s8ynDKoFSGeVI00NgrwvIg&utm_source=copy-link

I recently discovered the demo for a very neat rhythm game in development called Unbeatable, and I love the music! It has an indie rock vibe that I absolutely adore. My favourite song from the demo’s soundtrack is probably PROPER RHYTHM. It plays during the tutorial and it had me hooked. https://peakdivide.bandcamp.com/track/proper-rhythm

Welcome back y'all! Here' my music recommendation for the episode: Darkness Inside by Star Lord, the fake band made for the Guardians of the Galaxy game. Highly recommend checking out the whole album, it captures classic rock vibes incredibly well. https://open.spotify.com/track/4odHY97d7CTgpoVgoJvD9B?si=_w6kFSu8RK2a6dnPQTpZpg&utm_source=copy-link

https://youtu.be/iKncY8Lgw5E The Chinese Democracy song sounds like Defiler, Adriana's band from The Sopranos. (Late 90's bro lyrics ahead)

Welcome back fellas! So I know Dan is famously into classic rock, hence several pieces of his tshirt wardrobe. So my question is for Dan - what is the most modern artist or song you find yourself really enjoying? And for my song, I include a classic song I didn’t know existed until a few months ago. Brokedown Palace by Grateful Dead. I never listened to much Dead music, but had this song recommended to me and I love it. Enjoy and glad to have this show back. Cheers! https://open.spotify.com/track/362CS15hE1upuTKoWApzLn?si=r75GNx2lS7Cws5QwiLN2cw

Glad you all are back, I’ve missed it! No question, just commenting that Dan is a troll for making me listen to this faux GNR album! I don’t think you all are fans of Jack White but I am and this song rocks! https://youtu.be/sRbnAxrS3EM

Hey y'all. Very happy that you are back Do you listen to music to relax? If so, what artists or genres do you listen to? My go to is looping electronic music from artists like GAS or The Field. Here is my song for the podcast! A classic from Amon Tobin https://open.spotify.com/track/2kmOzndbVl8GomtgVGmEHS?si=58f3322f8e2a4e18

I'm a fan of Jack White but boy, does Jack White make it hard to be a fan of Jack White sometimes. I've seen him live a few times (Prairie Home Companion, Raconteurs, and solo shows) and I do quite like this song and album!

Hey! Amazing that Crossfade is back. While you were gone I realized that this is basically my favorite podcast. I was really into hard rock as a teenager, and thought my music taste was very niche, as my friend group were basically the only rock and metal enthousiasts in my high school. Later, you can imagine my surprise I found out that Disturbed has a song with 500 million plays on Spotify, the biggest Drowning Pool has almost 300 million, etcetera. What music were you surprised to find out that it was either more or less popular than you thought? https://open.spotify.com/track/1MayFYhQQvVD4IzD7dqBBj?si=32158ed6fcea4142

Oh, hello! Didn't see you over there. Welcome back crossfade. Here's the poppiest thing that I've ever heard from bright eyes but also the best fuzz tone. https://music.apple.com/us/album/falling-out-of-love-at-this-volume-companion-version/1600259294?i=1600259308&ls
