This is a MinnMax-ass, MinnMax list and I love it. Thanks for a great year, Cohorts!

Please put spoiler warnings in the youtube description of the video for when you talk about Chicory. The things you talked about, even the mechanics, would have been great to discover without foreknowledge. Janet's discussion of the game made me buy it that night! I loved how she passionately talked about it and defended its number one position on the list.

So glad Bravely made it. Episode was a hoot. Thank you all for a great year.

Finally finished the episode! Great job all. Two quick thoughts: - I think Bravely Default 2 is deserving on the strength of its deep, tactical combat and party building. Janet started to get at this, but the conversation would often quickly move from the details of the game to the controversy of whether it belonged on the list at all given that only Janet played a significant chunk (and didn’t finish it). I put in the ~80 hours, completed it, and the combat remains incredible throughout: strategic, diverse, creative. I prefer the combat in BD2 to both Persona 5 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. That said, the art style and story are very forgettable and for that reason, BD2 didn’t crack my personal top 10. - I want to echo (pun intended) Sarah’s love for Echoes of the Eye. It’s in my top 3 for the year and it could easily have been called a full sequel/prequel given how much it invents and the brand new world it offers. “DLC” undersells it. The first hour can be a little slow as you get the feel for the controls back, but after that it really gets going. Absorbing puzzles, great lore, lots of subtle inversion of expectations. “Aha” moments around every corner. Definitely try it out if you haven’t yet!

I feel there needs to be a more objective way to make the list. I feel like this year was an especially bad case of "I'm louder so I'm righter" for some of the cohorts. Not naming names, but there's a strong correlation between speaker volume/word count, and how high their favorite games placed
