Very cool r and b artist from Ethiopia that lived in Japan for about a decade before coming to the US. It's good to listen to music from people who have experienced a different life from you, also the bass line is hot as hell. https://open.spotify.com/track/0wcN45fKhDGWAd0GrWjdYM?si=qeiyqkJpSNCsEk0o7N_VhA

Billy O'keefe

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7HH-E11C3o Coheed and Cambria's Evagria the Faithful! It's a beautifully busy song, and all of their music has an underlying narrative. It's pretty cool and I think you guys would appreciate it!~

Do you think you listen to music more often to change your mood or match it?

Hello (Ex)Commuter’s Heroes, I am a tad behind on my video game podcasts. Upon writing this question I just finished episode 5 of the minnmax show. In this ancient episode of the podcast (featuring Emily Reese from Level) I enjoyed a similar discussion about favorite videogame sound tracks. Are there any unexpectedly good sound tracks that you stumbled upon in a playlist that compelled you to play a game, maybe even one that normally would have been out of your typical wheel house? When I stumbled across the Octopath traveler soundtrack, I found it to be so vibrant and charming that I faced my hesitation of turn based combat just to play this on the switch.

Evening gentlemen, Is there a particular song or album that you only enjoy the live version of, but really hate the studio version, or vice versa? Also for my community song choice, I'm picking a song from my favorite indy group around today, Apollo Sonders. They are a neo-soul four piece out of beautiful New Jersey. I've seen them live maybe a dozen times and can't recommend them highly enough. Here's a favorite of mine called "Gotta Be Real." https://open.spotify.com/track/2qNifPeYmc7swh4XIP6n3V

Since Metal shows are often associated with moshing and wild concerts, have you ever hurt yourself of somebody else by accident at a show? I once fell pretty much directly on my back stage diving and I couldn't do sit ups for several months (it's fine now) and somebody claims I gave them a concussion at a concert. In celebration of the metal mood, I offer up the song "Honey Bucket" by the Melvins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_unV0UPGUY

Song suggestion: New Fleet Foxes song, "Jara", from their new album. Its absolutely fantastic. I get some "Tomorrow Never Knows" vibes from the instrumentals

How often do you find that your favorite album from an artist is your first as opposed to the consensus best? Unlike most people I know, my favorite Metallica album is Ride the Lightning instead of Master of Puppets. I recognize that Master is superior in a lot of ways, and Ride has some songs that aren't as well-loved as Master, but Ride was my first Metallica album and that puts it over the top in my book.

Community song suggestion, Long Violent History by Tyler Childers. Closes his new album and only song on the album with vocals. It’s timely and powerful. https://youtu.be/2_I3Rp1CQak

damn think Im late. Cliff Burton was a huge influence for me to start playing bass and specifically Orion was the song with Cliffs slower bass part that leads into the 2nd half. I thought I should just rent a bass for $20 and try to play that. As soon as I hit the first open E I fell in love with the instrument. For that Orion stays my favorite of the most epic album of all time. Do you have any examples of music that made you have to go try to play it or engage with it in a new way because you liked it so much?

I don’t know about anyone else but the lack of background music when you enter Peach’s garden was always a little unnerving to me. Especially given how the rest of the game has so much music. It’s an interesting tone setter.
