Every Monday we stream an exclusive Q&A for supporters in the High Council. On this week's show, we're joined by Jeff Marchiafava and the stream is happening at 1pm Central. We’re happy to answer any and all questions about the future of MinnMax, our past, or the news of the day. If you can’t make it into the chat during the stream, feel free to leave your question here and we’ll answer it on the stream.

Thanks for your support, everybody!

Hey cohorts. I'm swamped with work today, so I won't be able to participate in chat as usual, but I wanted to start by saying how much this community means to me. I came to MinnMax when I needed a support system, and found one in all the warm and welcoming folk each morning as I logged into the chat. I've constantly been inspired by all the generosity on display here, and am beyond words with gratitude for what that has done for my mental health. With that comes an interlude of sadness. Much like with any family, there are occasionally members who we sometimes look up to or assign respect, but under further scrutiny and accountability, we come up wanting. I don't want to fixate on what Scott C. (or StudMuffin, as he is known to the community) did because it's more a symptom of bigger issues, but I want to state briefly what happened to those who might not know because I think this type of transparency is crucial to drive home my point. Last Monday, there was a conversation occurring in general chat that gave a few of us pause: Scott had employed his moderation in a way that felt unclear. Someone made remarks about some problematic banners/flags in regard to our current pandemic situation, and when asked for clarification on what he meant, Scott, due to constraints of discord's maximum DM size, made a private server. What followed was initially a dialogue about intention and avoiding generalizations, however, it soon devolved into sarcastic and snarky gas-lighting, myself being one of those impacted. We were fortunate enough (and I am thankful) to have the presence of both Roland and Adam Walker present in that private server to hold Scott accountable for what he was saying and supported us through that uncomfortable situation. I won't lie—that interaction with Scott provided a chilling effect. We were lucky that two other moderators were there, but my concern is that given the growing size and popularity of our community (especially as made evident by the arrival of the illustrious Darth Leo himself) that there simply aren't enough moderators available to contribute to these scenarios, let alone clear enough guidance/structure to enable a community to course correct itself. Considering that one quarter of the moderation crew we have treated a decent number of us like that on a fluke incident, how am I supposed to feel comfortable maintaining faith or the benefit of the doubt that future scenarios will not result in something far worse? Again, I love this community and this feedback is inspired by two of the three core pillars of what MinnMax establishes itself as: friends, and getting better. I want us to be better and I know you do too. Thank you for listening. - Rook

Hey Ben and JeffM, I can't make the stream today because of work, but I had a quick question I was hoping you might be able to address. Some of us in the High Council were considering doing a MinnMax Community Extra Life fundraiser and stream on the big Extra Life Day in November. Are the cohorts considering running their own Extra Life activities? Would you consider the possibility of joining the Community Stream for a dedicated time? We're still in early days but understand that planning such a long stream can be a challenge, so we're trying to start early. As always, appreciate you and the cohorts for all that you do!

Yikes. Just for the purposes of clarification, because I am also a Scott C, This was NOT me. My handle is WhiskyCokeNoIce (but Rob knows that!)
