FF7 Remake is the first JRPG I've ever finished, and I'm wondering what JRPG I should play next. What's a good one that's available on current gen consoles, even if it was ported over from earlier ones? I liked the combat and character development a lot from FF7 Remake, less so the ending admittedly.

With The recent inside Xbox The Dirt devs actually highlighted that along with 4K 60fps they will have a 1080p 120hz which is odd wording but I belive this means 1080p 120 FPS. This is a good step for racing games. Do you think we will have even more options for performance presets for games? Do you think the wording with Valhalla being MINimum 4K 30fps could mean there is a possible 4 options? Or something of the sort Maybe: 4K high/ultra 30fps 4K medium 60fps 1080p high/ultra 60? or something 1080p medium 120?

Greetings Ben Hanson, Kyle Hilliard, Jeff Marchiafava, Suriel Vazquez, and perhaps a special guest or two! I’m staying with my family for lockdown and managed to convince my sister to play Telling Lies with me after listening to MinnMax’s interview with Sam Barlow. She hasn’t played a video game since playing licensed Harry Potter and Monsters Inc. games on her Nintendo DS but she loves it and it’s been a great game to play together, with her taking notes while I control the game. The beauty of this is that she can still be engaged with the game’s mechanics and story without having to learn controls or assumed video game knowledge (e.g. X to jump). So I guess my question is: what are your favourite games that are engaging even when you’re not on the controls?

Hey CLCs, would you rather: Have to buy the most expensive version of a game to play it at launch or have to wait till you can get it for half off?

Heya MinnMax crew! With the upcoming release of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, I've been hunting for an EU version of the collector's edition because it's so good compared to the NA one and that made me return to the classic question: Why does Nintendo always make widely different collector's editions per region? What would be a potential good reason as to why? In the case of Xenoblade Chronicles: DE, what could have possibly led Nintendo to decide to only put an art book for NA while EU has a vinyl, a steelbook case, a code for the full soundtrack,a poster and an art book? No to mention that Japan and Australia also have widely different versions.

Get a load of this, the outgoing head of Poland's Supreme Court said the country has been moving towards an authoritarian state under the control of the ruling nationalist party. This has me even more interested in Cyberpunk 2077. Media is social and political, it is not made in a vacuum and living in an increasingly authoritarian regime is poignant in the cyberpunk genre. Do you not only like seeing the sausage get made, but are you also curious about the kitchen? Fight the power, CLCs!

Hi Ben and the CLC's After watching your reactions to the Xbox Showcase last week, an article I saw on IGN stated that Ubisoft claimed that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will run "at least at 30 fps" and it got me thinking. With Uncharted 4 being 4 years old and me seeing a lot of tweets about the anniversary praising how damn good it looks still, I think people might be looking for next-gen graphics in the wrong places. Personally, I would love for next-gen graphics to focus or have more detail in these areas: hair, lighting, shadow, physics, and probably most importantly, FPS. I think we are at a place graphically where more subtle graphical improvements or improvements in gameplay would be beneficial in the long-run rather than increasing polygons and resolution. What do you guys think?

Don't know if I'm too late, but I love Tony Hawk and was wondering if the game introduced you to any bands you currently love. Project 8 was the first time I heard Dead Milkmen and I adore them to death. I feel like the series as a whole had a big impact on my music taste growing up.

Hey MinnMax! I thought a lot about how the past generation features a lot of games turning themselves around after a rough launch (Rainbow Six Siege, No Man's Sky, etc.). With the recently rumored Mafia Trilogy being remade, I think this could be the perfect time to fix what kept Mafia 3 from being great. I'd never played a game that started so strong yell fell flat so fast. I guess my question would be, is this the perfect time for a Mafia 3 redemption story?

Dear MinnMaxers, with some fans already grumbling that the graphics for the new generation isnt a big enough leap forward, what do you think it will take to blow everybody away again? Will games have to look like a controllable movie, or will it be something we haven't even considered yet? Thanks, Mike from Maine

Hey Ben Hanson and the SOLDIER First Class wannabes! During the Deepest Dive on the Final Fantasy VII Remake (which was very well done, BTW) one criticism that kept popping up was how iffy some of the textures were (especially the view of the slums in Chapter 5). I don't know the veracity of these claims but allegedly someone on Twitter (https://twitter.com/necroalx/status/1260587848471908355) hacked the files from the game and lo' and behold the texture files are gorgeous! Could this have been an issue with the Unreal Engine in rendering it out? How common do you think issues like this are in modern AAA games?

To be perfectly honest, that's a rather open-ended question (and it'd be interesting to see the panel's feedback) but to help narrow it down it'd be beneficial to know what you're looking for. A game made this console generation or a port of a classic? Real-time vs. turn-based combat? The degree of exploration? Are you looking for a short romp or something that can easily span 60+ hours? If none of that matters then the world is your oyster.

What is your opinion of Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg? Definitely my favorite egg themed platformer.

Good questions! I'm good with ports or current gens. (I've got a PS4, Xbox One, and PS3, currently, as well as a Mac.) I like real-time or turn-based (I've got lots of experience with strategy games for the turn-based). I love the idea of a relatively tight 20-30 hour game, but I'm willing to go longer if it has compelling systems, as well as a compelling narrative. I was thinking about FF IX, FF X, or FF XV, because I've got access to them, but I would love non-FF suggestions. Thanks for the follow up!
