Everything Changing With MinnMax's Relaunch (Patreon)
Content
Thanks to your incredible support on Patreon, we hit our goal of contracting out a graphic designer to give MinnMax a visual overhaul. After several glowing recommendations, we chose Jeff Wiggins whose work you might have seen in IGN's YouTube thumbnails. You can check out Jeff's full portfolio here or thank him on Twitter here.
With the visual overhaul, which includes new merch and new YouTube thumbnails, we're making some tweaks to existing shows and announcing some new content. We'll be rolling out these announcements throughout the week, you can watch our new YouTube overview video below to maybe get some hints. Again, thank you. This is all because of you and for you.

Alright, here's a list of some changes.
Patreon Tweaks
- At the $50 tier, your name will now be in the credits of every piece of MinnMax content rather than just The MinnMax Show. Also, if you support us at this tier we'll happily read a script, record a voicemail, or sing a song of your choice for your personalized thank you video.
- Along those same lines, for the Wall of Heroes Patreon tier, your image of choice will now be on the TV during every MinnMax video and no longer just The MinnMax Show.
- We still have our goal of getting out of the basement and creating a real studio space at $15K, but we're adding additional goals along the way...
- At $11K Kyle Hilliard and Ben Hanson will create a limited series called Photomode Snap where we review and compare screenshots taken by the community.
- At $12K Ben Hanson will launch a regular interview show highlighting developers, folks in games press, and beyond.
- At $13K we'll rope in Jeff Cork to kick off a brand new podcast with him and Ben Hanson in the vein of The Twilight Highlight Zone and A Fire Inside Out.
MinnFAQs
- We'll now be releasing the audio version of our weekly Q&A on Monday afternoons for supporters in the exclusive audio feed rather than Tuesday. We'll post this after the stream where $20 supporters (the High Council) can ask questions and call in once a month.
The Great GOTY Hunt
- We love streaming games together, but sometimes it feels like we're not making the most of the opportunity by streaming a c-tier game we've never heard of that just happens to be a new release. From now on during slow release weeks, we'll let $10 supporters vote for which games we stream that aren't even new releases. Should we go back and play more Sonic Adventure 2? Should we keep exploring in Dreams? Your call. So the overall update to The Great GOTY Hunt is that some weeks there won't be a Great GOTY Hunt... just a fun group stream. You can still expect bonus streams on top of all of this as well.
- In addition to reading your comments in chat, we'll be keeping an eye out for new Patreon supporters during streams and give them a special shout-out to welcome them!
The MinnMax Show Podcast
- Every week we'll pull our favorite community submission from the Get A Load Of This channel on Discord and read it alongside our own choices.
- Instead of just being in the credits, at the end of the episode we'll thank every one of our $50 supporters.
- For all of our shows, we'll be creating clips for YouTube to try to surface more fun content to a bigger audience. These clips will be clearly labeled, so you won't accidentally watch the same thing twice.
Tabletop Coverage
- Our Tabletop Game Night streams will now be public on YouTube and Twitch, but we're open to have Patreon-exclusive tabletop streams in the future.
- There are so many fun tabletop games to cover and recommend, we'll be creating additional videos with Jeff Marchiafava and guests where we rank our favorite games, talk about an upcoming release, or have in-depth discussions on tabletop design. If you support us at the $5 tier, you'll have the audio version of these discussions in your exclusive podcast feed and have early access to the video versions.
There are going to be some smaller changes here and there as well to these shows, but we think this covers the basics. Let us know what you think of these changes in the comments below, and please remember to stay tuned throughout the week for more new announcements. You're the ones keeping us afloat, so this is all for you.
