Ben Hanson interviews Mike Mahardy on his career in games press right before he announces his next move in the industry. Mike was an intern at Game Informer back in 2012 before being hired at Gamespot where he grew into a more video-focused position. In the discussion we talk about what it's like to be a recurring guest at Giant Bomb, why we want to marry Vinny Caravella, and what he's looking for out of his mysterious next job. If you enjoy the conversation, any help sharing it would be appreciated!

I love these interviews with people in the game industry from developers to journalists. It's a really neat peak behind the curtain.

This will sound worse without context, but I immediately discounted Mike when I first encountered him, since his face looks like he has the potential for great cruelty. I can totally see why Jeff Cork attached a "frat boy" label to him during his intern days. If you don't know the guy, and see him in public, it's easy to assume he spends his free time icing bros with various flavors of Smirnoff. That said, I'm glad I gave him a chance, because he won me over pretty quickly. Turns out he's a real Masofty. No, I will not apologize for that. Looking forward to what he does next.
