I've also never played this game. Didn't have consoles growing up. Probably won't play it, but I'm interested to listen in on these discussions 👍

I think the reason the haze disappears when certain moves are done is because both effects are on the same layer and they both can’t be on screen at the same time.

Great first episode! I love this game and I really enjoyed your discussion. Ben mentioned that he would be curious which songs were written by Nobuo Uematsu. According to the Spotify credits for the DS soundtrack (https://open.spotify.com/album/2kOD9QzcUkeT57RJkNvQpH?si=QDZyKc23RXmDFzLoJTDNRg) Uematsu wrote: Silent Light Mystery of the Past (just a quick sound effect) People Without Hope Bike Chase (but notably NOT the Robo Gang Johnny theme) Underground Sewer (one of my favorite songs in the game) Primitive Mountain Burn! Bobonga! (the cave man dance music) Tyran Castle Sealed Door

Was this the podcast for this week??

No, Deepest Dive is its own show. Podcast must just be a little late for whatever reason, but I'd imagine it won't be too long before it goes up.

Just wanted to throw in my vote like many others that I'd love even more older classic games as Deepest Dives because I too need the extra reason to replay my favorites when so much new stuff is constantly out. Thanks!

Great listen, I think you talked me into playing this, first time, on the iPad with a controller. Don’t forget, iOS 13 introduced Xbox Bluetooth controller support(PS4 controller too I think, not sure)!

Too bad Wii Shop has shut down, could have been purchased there on Wii or Wii U. Wii U eShop appears to have never received Chrono Trigger on its own. Trying to source a SNES copy currently... 👍🏻

I know it's a bit late, but listening to the deepest dive reminded me of a moment from the game. When starting the game, I accidentally deleted the 'C' in Crono before I read what his name was. I sat at the player name screen for about 3 minutes straight trying to guess what it was supposed to be. Luckily I picked the right letter, but I was very close to being reminded that I named him incorrectly for the entire game.
