Thanks for supporting The MinnMax Show! On this week's episode, we rip off the band-aid and break down our game of the year choices for each year throughout the last decade. This is a fun and sometimes painful stroll down memory lane, we also admit where we were completely wrong in retrospect. Just a reminder, we have our first MinnMax community meetup on Monday, December 9th at 8pm at Bauhaus Brew Labs in Minneapolis. You don't have to be a Patreon supporter to swing by. If you're not in Minneapolis, we're raising money to buy toys for kids stuck in the hospital over the holidays right here -  https://www.gofundme.com/f/sweet-toys-for-sick-kids-from-minnmax

I'm not counting the year 2000 as part of the 90's. And I'm not counting 2020 as part of the 20teens decade. I understand your reasoning for saying we should start at year one but I think a lot of people have transitioned to starting each new decade at the "zero" year.

I may disagree with Kyle on DmC but I have his back on Infamous Second Son!

I don't keep good enough track of my entire top ten lists, but I keenly recall all of my individual Game of the Year winners. Caveat 1: I allow a tie for first place. Caveat 2: Any game I beat in a calendar year is eligible, regardless of when it actually released. 2010: (tie) Batman: Arkham Asylum and Super Mario Galaxy 2 2011: Portal 2 2012: (tie) The Walking Dead Season 1 and Batman: Arkham City 2013: (tie) Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us 2014: (tie) Grand Theft Auto V and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds 2015: Alien: Isolation 2016: (tie) Rise of the Tomb Raider and Inside 2017: (tie) Watch Dogs 2 and Super Mario Odyssey 2018: (tie) God of War 2018 and Return of the Obra Dinn 2019: Insomniac's Spider-Man (if I had to pick one released THIS year, it'd be Observation. EASILY.)

That RDR2 discussion was hilarious. RDR2 is my game of the decade. People hate on the gameplay, but I'm with Jeff, I loved it. I just kind of feel bad for people who didn't enjoy the gameplay just like I do for people who didn't like breakable weapons in BOTW. Both those games' systems worked perfectly for me and I don't see how they could work otherwise. If only BOTW had an actual story, other than get good and kill the big bad, it would rival RDR2 for game of the decade.

EDIT:Best movie of the year for me - Jojo Rabbit. I laughed, I cried, and I can't recommend it more. If a movie can be ruined by a "spoiler" from a trailer then the movie clearly doesn't hold itself up. Also trailers often include cut scenes, have dialogue recorded just for the trailer, etc. I'd say if it's part of the pre-release marketing it's not a spoiler BUT you can choose to avoid that content if you so desire which is fine but don't be upset if someone or something on the internet talks about it in front of you.

Hey Ben dunno if this helps but I also sucked at parallel parking and parking in general 'till my friend told me to look at my side mirrors. Rotate them down so you can see the curbs on either sides, works for me all the time

I’d love to hear your lists for the “good but not great games.” Games that are fun in the moment but don’t have a chance to be on a top 10 list. Like A Hat In Time, Enter the Gungeon, or the Banner Saga trilogy.
