Redoing my boxing gloves.

It's not fit to any particular generation of Genesis, so I have the option of making these for all generations, though leaning with just for Genesis 8, and potentially Genesis 3.

Because it's not fit, the polygons for logos are not on.

These were rendered in Substance Painter.  The following are the current material zones:

1) Leather,

2) Thumbstrap, (might remove)

3) Laces, and

4) Tape.

The white underside is painted on, and because of the normal maps, it cannot be its own surface.

For those who have used my MMA gloves, is the option to have logos on the wrists and fists worth doing?

Edit:

I should have mentioned that I made a more sensible UV layout for these.  Right now, all these surfaces share the same UV map.

Update 21 OCT:

Been having some health concerns.  Lots of edema, probably coming from sitting around so much and some chest pain that only happens when in certain positions.  Seems to be clearing out (slowly).

In the meantime I did work on trying to clear out some other mesh items and hoping to have them up soon.

As for the boxing gloves, I noticed a very large flaw.  I could have ignored it and gotten around the issue by using Substance Painter, but for those wanting to customize, it would be a pretty annoying issue.

It means a large adjustment to the base mesh has to be done, and then the UV map.

I also removed the pronounced edge you can see that runs down along the side of the glove.  Anyone sad to see it go?

I plan on doing them for Genesis 8, but if people request, I should be able to fit them to previous generations.  The reason I ask is that I might try to add in hand wraps underneath and they'll have to fit the A-pose and hand shape(s).

Update 24 OCT:

They're on G8M right now.  I had hoped to have these done by now but can't figure out why the opacity maps for the logos are not exporting properly from Substance Painter.  Hoping to have that straightened out but tonight.

These gloves now have five material surfaces:

1) Leather,

2) Underside,

3) Tape,

4) Laces,

5) Fist, and

6) Wrist.

Numbers five and six are mirrored so that any text or logos should be automatically mirrored (I might rename them and put the word Logo in their names).

Numbers one through four are on the very same UV space (as shown by the UV layout), but will be a proper mirror image from one side to the other (any text on leather would be backwards on one side).  So, any logos can go right onto the fist and wrist so long as there is a proper opacity map.

I should also breakout the nylon thumbstraps into their own surfaces.

I will be providing the Substance Painter 2020 work file for these gloves too.

I was seriously delayed when I realized that some of the leather polygons were where they should have been in the UV space, so I had to nearly start the entire UV layout process from scratch.  Again.  That said, I'm much happier with this layout now than I have been with my other gloves.

Yes, customization is a huge part of allowing an artist to separate themselves with individuality. These look great....hope to see them later on down the line!

I like the streamlined look. I have a pair of gloves that I use for shadow boxing and they look like this.

I'll make it easier for those who want to customize and who happen to own Substance Painter 2020.
