Patreon Billing Issues watch this video for an explanation! 

We understand that it is not something that Patreon can fix, as it has more to do with updates to banking and payment systems, but as indie creators we always try to be upfront about issues.

The main issue your bank would see is that Patreon changed their payment processing from California to Ireland and for the people impacted your bank will flag the payment since it changed locations and nations.

Hi there,

An issue with a payment partner is causing a slightly higher-than-normal number of your patron payments to be declined by their banks. We've traced the increased declines back to payments system upgrades required by one of our processing partners. Patrons might see some payments declined while changes take effect.

If a patron reaches out to you about a decline, you can advise them to follow these steps:

  1. Contact their card issuer to confirm the charge is valid and retry that card
  2. If the retry does not work, try a different payment method. Patrons can edit their payments in their Settings, under Billing History:

My bank swears it isn't them, and payments to other creators are going through. Some others, such as yourself, are not.... I don't understand how it isn't a Patreon thing when the whole chain works.... but not for some creators?

And I can't make changes/ retry because "There are pending payments".... 🤷‍♂️

Honestly, I have given Patreon three valid methods of payment and it is refusing to try any of them. Oh no! I was charged a foreign transaction fee on the card I was using! I’ll need to switch that over asap.

I would contact Patreon support as I am not able to refund or even see what fees you were charged, Patreon should be able to process that for you. Sorry about that!!!
