Hello my WONDROUS friends! It’s been far too long, but I’m here with an update blog! I want to fill you in on all the projects that are currently in the works.

First off, obviously there will be a Tears of the Kingdom review. As I said at the end of my impressions video, I really can’t say when you’ll get it. The biggest obstacle at present is simply finding the time to play the game. It was easy enough to make playing my whole job for a couple days after release, but that’s just not sustainable now that the impressions video is out. I’ve just got to grab little bits of play time here and there. So yeah, it might take some time.

Fortunately, once I feel I’ve played enough, the review itself shouldn’t take TOO long. You might have noticed that I’ve been experimenting with a new format of review. Longform and technically unscripted, but still tightly outlined. I’ve been frustrated by my inability to get out reviews in good time, and part of that includes having to write these massive scripts whenever there’s a game I’ve got a lot to say about. So basically we’re playing around with a slightly looser format where I can talk about a game for as long as I want, but it doesn’t require quite as much work in the writing and editing departments. My recent reviews of Resident Evil 4 and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are examples of this new format. It’s not quite as polished, but I’m hoping it still manages to be fun and satisfying to watch. Personally, while I think tightly scripted videos are nice in their own way, I love the conversational feel of the new format. But I suppose we’ll wait and see what the consensus is.

All that to say, I’ll be using this new format for the Tears of the Kingdom review, I have no doubt. This way I’ll be able to get out a video saying every single thing I want to say without breaking everyone’s backs in the process and making you all wait a year for it. And if this goes well and the majority of people are okay with the change, most of my reviews will use the new format going forward. It’s a big change, but it’s really gotten me excited about doing reviews again. The old method just wasn’t sustainable for me, and I’ve been looking for ways to reduce the workload so I can keep enjoying this job and maybe even start doing more side projects. That’s a whole discussion for another day though!

Beyond the Zelda review, we’ve got a video talking about the possibility that Switch will end up the #1 highest selling console of all time. Sort of a continuation of the video I did guessing how much the Switch would ultimately sell a few years ago. It’s almost done, so expect early access soon!

Also nearly done and coming your way soon is a special Zelda-themed episode of Spicy Take Salad. I have a lot of saved tweets to react to and talk about too, so expect even more general episodes later. That’s the kind of thing we want to frontload and release over time, so who knows, you might get multiple early episodes at once.

Those will probably be the last videos for May, but I’ve got two videos in the planning stages for next month. The first is a video discussing where the Zelda series might possibly go after Tears of the Kingdom. It’s a question we’ve all been asking for a good while, but now that we’ve played the game it’s time to finally get ponderin’. The second video will have me trying my best to realistically predict what Nintendo’s movie output might look like in the future. Not based on fan desires, but on what actually seems plausible. So that should be fun.

There’s other stuff on the ol’ Ideas List, but I’ll leave it at that for now and hit you with another update blog later.

Oh, but before I go, should I tell you about THAT project…?

No, surely it’s too early. I should keep it a secret.

But MAYBEEEE…?

No. No, not yet. I’m sorry.

WEEEELLLLLL I mean a teeny tiny little hint couldn’t hurt.

All I’ll say is that this video will be pretty big.

And yeah, if I’m honest…maybe a little fat, too?

But that’s all for now. ;)

The Pokémon and RE4 reviews were great

Arlo, which is my new best friend apparently?? I also have been dealing with anxiety and stress with my project at work, but believe me when I say that the majority of the stress and anxiety are (maybe ~70%) self-inflicted. Take it off your shoulder, think healthier, live healthier, put out videos whenever you want to, it's okay to post less if it's financially viable for you, I for one will always watch your videos when they're available, your frequency of posting them won't affect the entertainment I get from them. Good luck buddy.
