Update #53 - Sinnoh League (Patreon)

Happy New Years everyone!

I'm excited to share the news that we finally have the Moemon sprites for the signature partners of each the Sinnoh Gym Leaders as well as the Elite Four, of course. Previously, we've only had Cynthia, and a re-release of her just recently, but now it's time to finally include the entire League. Female versions of course.

There's some concept art and sprites out there for genderbent versions of most Gym Leaders which I'll be taking some inspiration from, but in some cases I'll do entirely original work, like with Cyri beforehand.

However, the main excitement is a ton of missing Moemon sprites have finally been updated and it's well past time to get them out there, especially because I technically announced the start of Season 4 / Gen 4 in like December of 2021, a year ago, and we're still technically in it.

Kicking this off with Roark and his Cranidos/Rampardos, we'll head to each Gym and take on each one and their signature Moemon, with some minor adjustments. Gardenia's ace is Roserade, but aside from maybe slightly updating Roserade, I may pair her with her Cherubi / Cherrim instead, as they haven't been released yet.

Then there's ones like Maylene. While she has a powerful Lucario on her team, Pokemon Masters actually assigns Medicham as her signature, which, last I checked, is well due for an update. However, she also utilizes Machamp and Toxicroak on some of her post-Gym rematch battles, Machamp of course is one that I've been DESPARATELY LOOKING FOR A REASON TO UPDATE, and Toxicroak has an amazingly beautiful sprite that I've been wanting to release, but haven't had a chance to, so Maylene may employ a full team for her sake.

I may have to do some editing for that Croagunk though. Why she turns from white to black is beyond me but let's try for some consistency at least.

Anyways, that should give you a general idea of what's coming. Although I don't have specific sprites to preview, instead I want you to look at the entire spritesheet for Gen 4.

Although not entirely up-to-date (I think this one was last released in September, no less), it gives you a good look at where we're at for Gen 4. Actually, some of it has changed and some missing sprites filled in, but the point to make here is that we're close to wrapping up Gen 4. Optimistically, we can finish before Spring, although there may be one or two exceptions - at the very least, a bulk of them will be coming this month and next as well as the remaining Legendaries (YES I WILL FINISH GIRATINA EVENTUALLY I'M SORRY). I may also include a few Trainers and maybe a few extras if I can think of them.

Then we can move onto Gen 5!

For now I just wanted to give you a brief look at which direction we're going in. I do have more news to share, which I teased a couple of months ago and some have already guessed as to what it is, but once I can compile more stuff to share I'll put it into a full post. Soon, I promise!
