Legendary Release #2 - Articuno! (Patreon)

"Every year, Shamouti Island holds the annual Legend Festival. For centuries, the locals have performed a ceremony honoring the prophesied Chosen One that would tame the Birds of Legend should they release their might on the world. 

According to Professor Oak, ancient writings from many different cultures name the area around this region as the source of all the waters of the world, and perhaps life itself.

One of the three elemental islands off the south coast of Shamouti Island is known as Ice Island... the home of Articuno."

She's finally here! Articuno is here for all Patrons!

Articuno was a lot of fun to make. She has gone through several iterations until finally what you see today. While I originally created her with the Moémon sprite's outfit in mind, it just didn't feel "Legendary" enough.. and as it happens, the Moémon sprite artists are planning on changing her sprite, so why not have my own design?

Couple things to note:

Originally, I was using the standard angel wings painted blue, until I saw that Articuno's dex entry mentioned her wings were translucent; made of ice. So I swapped to the above wings.

Her diamond headpiece was difficult. There were a few options to roll with, but an outside opinion made me decide to stick with these ones. I also toyed with making it a tiara, but they are literally a part of Articuno. Why change it?

Finally, her outfit. While I do enjoy a nice Sailor Moon outfit, the translucent theme just stuck and I matched her outfit with her wings instead. Of course, you can tweak however you'd like!
