New music on dead formats taken to its brilliantly illogical conclusion

Today I will mostly be messing about with cylinder records.

I went off on quite a few tangents in this video - because I felt like it. A video about antique cylinder record players is never going to appeal to the tiktok generation - so sod-em, this one is for people who have a bit more time to kill.

A bit of behind the scenes info - just as I was recording the final piece of audio to overlay on the outro, a bolt inside the machine sheered off while winding it, rendering it inoperative. Fortunately I had just enough audio recorded to work around this in the edit. It looks like I’ll have to tackle my oldest music player repair now at some point but it really needs someone closer to a blacksmith than a HiFi repairer.

I’m going to have a couple of days off now if that’s OK with everyone, I’m completely knackered out. I hope you’re all doing well though - take care and thanks for all the positive messages. It’s been a difficult few weeks and your understanding is appreciated.

A) Patrons https://www.patreon.com/techmoan usually have early access to videos. I'll show the first version of a video on Patreon and often the feedback I get results in a video going through further revisions to improve it. e.g. Fix audio issues, clarify points, add extra footage or cut extraneous things out. In the closing comments there was a stack of books behind you. What were they? Especially the Japanese one on the top of the stack?
