I enjoy watching movies at home. Outside of making YouTube videos it’s been my biggest and most consistent passion since the 1980s. Movie nights can be my happiest times and while must-see new movies have been very thin on the ground over the last couple of years I’ve still been enjoying catching up on 4K and HD remasters of classics movies as well as discovering some films that passed me by first time.

Since the foreseeable future involves staying at home rather than traveling the world, I ‘invested’ my 2020 refunded holiday money into a new TV and more recently I spent what would  likely have been my 2021 holiday fund on the latest Sony Soundbar (and accessories) to accompany it. Here’s my video all about it.

In other news - I aim to do a really quick video next, just something that’s cool and easy to show, that way I should be able to move straight onto the September (Oct?) Patreon update video. So hopefully I’ll have more to say then, but in the meantime, take care and have a great weekend.

UPDATE:  As a result of the Patreon feedback - I’ve added some extra sections to the video that cover the previously unmentioned things that were being asked about.

The timestamps for the new sections are below:

31:28 - 32:39 Voice Enhance

35:08 - 37:05 Power off & Solo Soundbar

37:38 -39:46 Music Playback quality & features

The video embedded above and linked above is the new version.

Sony HT-A7000 Soundbar REVIEW : Including SW5 wireless subwoofer & RS3S wireless rears

A full length review of the Sony HT-A7000 Sound-bar, its optional RS3S Wireless surrounds and the SW5 Subwoofer. Will this set-up perform as well as or perhaps better than my previous traditional home cinema speaker system made up of an AV amp and separate speakers? A) Patrons https://www.patreon.com/techmoan usually have early access to videos. I'll show the first version of a video on Patreon and often the feedback I get results in a video going through further revisions to improve it. e.g. Fix audio issues, clarify points, add extra footage or cut extraneous things out. The video that goes live on youtube is the final version.

I have never liked Sony audio as a person in my 40s everything made from the late 90s until fairly recently seems to produce big sound. Lots of bass and lots of everything else but not with precision. I am no audiophile. I’ve even owned some Sony gear but I’ve ended up regretting it later when hearing Marantz JBL or Yamaha. I’m interested to hear how you feel in 12 months.

Just watching this for a second time (still very entertained!) and one thought I had is that if you pulled the wooden cabinet under the tv forward from the wall by an inch or so and kept the tv at the back of it with a slight overhang, you'd probably be able to accommodate that HDMI cable in the back of the soundbar for your PS5. I realise that you'd lose some valuable floor real estate!
