*****EXTRA INFO ABOUT THE CAR CHARGING SECTION*****

A few people have mentioned that the Mini (like other electric cars) charges slowly beyond 80% up to 100%. This explains the slow speed charging. I only ever charge at home overnight so this has never been something that I've noticed. 

One thing to add about this feature though - if my Mini only does 125 Miles on a full charge but you're expected to not charge it beyond 80% when you're out and about, this then means that the usable range if you plan to charge it away from home is more like 100 miles.

So that's something worth bearing in mind if you are considering an electric car. Find out the advertised maximum range - take a good 20-25% off that for cold weather and exaggeration. Then once you've calculated your newer more realistic range figure, take another 20% off that if you plan on charging away from home because the last 20% takes too long to charge at a public charger and doing so would 'strain'  your battery.

For obvious reasons they don't exactly shout about this aspect in the adverts.

UPDATE: Sorry, had to re-edit and re-upload the video to remove a frame of personal information that a viewer spotted and alerted me to. 

Since I was doing a re-up I shortened the vehicle charging post analysis to remove a sticking point where I mentioned the speed of charging as being slow. I now know that it’s supposed to be slow. So with those few seconds removed it takes away the magnetic attraction to an error to leave a wider musing regarding the overall experience (minus the spurious speed observations).
