Have you ever done that thought experiment where you can travel back in time but you can’t take anything with you. All you have is yourself and your memories, there’s no Sports Almanac in this story. How would you go about using your knowledge of the future for financial gain?

One idea might be to ‘invent’ something before it was due to come out, of course if you did this you’d also be restricted to utilising whatever technology existed at that point in history. So for example you couldn't sell a word processor to Shakespeare.

But sticking with this idea, if you travelled back in time to the early 1980s and decided to make a Smartphone, what would it look like? Well it might look a lot like the STC Executel.

UPDATE: This won’t make sense if you read it before the video, but yes the company who answered the phone at the end *were* the previous owners.

My mother formerly worked as a VP for Heidrick and Struggles in their Chicago office. If it would be helpful, I would be happy to see if I can get some more information from her or her former colleagues on who this gentleman was and how these devices were used.

Oh man, I hope you pulled out that battery before you put this phone back into storage wherever you put your historical artifacts.
