I haven't seen this episode since I watched the show the first time. It's better than I remembered, though I don't have much to say about it. I looked up the original "Murder on the Orient Express" novel, and it was in fact all the characters that did the murder (with the exception of the investigator). They like to make ponified puns of famous works quite often: other episodes include "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils", "Keep Calm and Flutter On", "Crusaders of the Lost Mark", "Sleepless in Ponyville", and "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?" I'm looking forward to the two-part season finale next week!

Good old Honest Applejack was the only one besides Pinkie and Twilight to refrain from stealing any dessert. Though... admittedly the first draft of the script had her take some as well. But I'm glad we ended up with this version. AJ is no thief. Not much else to say here. Loads of references to old westerns, martial arts, and spy films. And of course, the immediate callback to Princess Celestia loving cake. Onwards to the next one!

The finale is a two parter this time. Eh this is one of the more forgettable episodes for me not much more to say then that definitely felt like a tacked on filler episode before the finale.

I would strongly disagree. This episode is extremely important for me, because it provides some really important development for Pinkie’s character. My favourite thing about her is that she is intentionally camouflaged as a silly comic relief, which couldn’t be further from the truth, because there is endlessly more depth to her. This episode is one of those that begin to unravel her, and for now the thing it revealed is that she is actually incredibly intelligent, potentially rivalling Twilight in sheer learning capacity and memory. Those sides of her get explored more later on but this episode is the beginning.

Royal Wedding is next... brace yourself, boys and girls, for the show is taking a major turn.

In the end it was all Pinkie's fault, her descriptions of the deserts made them eat them.

Other than Twilight Applejack also didn't do anything

No. The others have free will and chose to steal tastes from them. Describing jewels tantalizingly doesn't make the person describing them responsible if someone steals them because they were so temptingly described.

LOVE this episode. But then, I love most Pinkie Pie episodes. It's just so silly. Plus, I enjoy mysteries, although I wish they'd let us see more of the clues as Twilight gathered them. I do like that she put the evidence in a "Clue" envolope-- another Hasbro product, IIRC. I did spot the one clue they did show during my first viewing, I think. . This is why some bakers wait to assemble the cake at the event. . Mulia Mild = Julia Child. That's why she has the voice.

Your notes at the start - Featherweight did nothing wrong. Again, he didn't take photos of them to be used as blackmail. Remember he was told to document everything for the paper. Everything. It was rotten luck that he got the CMCs in vulnerable positions that could be used against them. The only time he took specific photos as asked was when the CMCs asked him to come along and take photos for their column. So, you were being unfair to him.

This is not anime, nor a serialized story, by the very definition of the term 'filler' it is impossible for this show to have any filler.

So, that bit about AJ looking guilty... that's cause she was, there was a scene that got cut for time of Twilight praising AJ as the only one of the group besides herself to avoid snacking on the MMMM, causing her to break down and admit she took a bite too, she just waited till after Pinkie had fallen asleep to slip in to do it. Also, another odder bit of executive meddling that kind of opens up some plot holes was changing the destination of the train from Fillydelphia (or was it Manehatten.... some other city anyway) to Canterlot for.... no reason that was ever given as to why. Thus, what in every single other instance is a trip that only takes a couple of hours now takes at least a day to take, and for some bizarre reason Joe, who lives in Canterlot, brought his entry into the contest all the way with him to Ponyville and then back to Canterlot, just to get sprinkles to add to it, rather then simply come get the sprinkles without lugging his food along with him for no reason. Also, Gustaf is a Griffon...... And any episode where we get to see inside Pinkie's mind is both hilarious, and scary.

Huh...I noticed something interesting. I might be imagining it, but at the 18:00 mark here, the way Pinkie's wearing the hat and smiling reminds me of the famous image from A Clockwork Orange. It's a different angle, but It is a remarkably similar hat, her head is tilted down while she's looking straight ahead, and that smile looks a little sinister.
