I just noticed the Italian Stallion shirt halfway through. Well another great fluttershy episode. I always found new fluttershy to be hilarious.

Angel Bunny is the sort of character we like to have around so bad things can happen to them. This is one of the top Fluttershy episodes, I think, getting to see how her timidity causes her to bottle up emotions until things finally boil over. "Beware the Quiet Ones" is very much a part of her character, and gives her a lot of depth. We saw hints of this earlier in the first season episode (and Fluttershy's first focus episode) "Dragonshy" where she can really let loose once pushed to the breaking point. I wasn't actually able to find any statistics on the distribution of "focus episodes" for the characters. I feel like they're roughly equal, but not evenly distributed.

I believe that indeed is a ponyfide "The Lonely Man Theme" from Ihe Incrdible Hulk 77-82.

The others covered pretty much everything already, but it was good to see another pony confront one of their flaws and try to overcome it. I mentioned early in the season that that seemed to be one of the overall themes of season 2. Unfortunately, Fluttershy still has a bit to learn as far as balance goes. Interestingly, she kinda had a point with the things she said to Pinkie and Rarity. Wonder if those two are going to remember that and look to better themselves as well. Iron Will is a fun character. I definitely believe he was just the sort that nobody ever said no to. Looks like Bon Bon learned a lesson in being rude to an angry Fluttershy. She's spoken several times in the show, now, and she's had a completely different-sounding voice every time.

its hard to judge fluttershys behavior here. the "problem" ponies were ridiculously rude to her for no reason. there was only absolute "evil" or neutral ponies; no in between, which would be necessary for a fair assessment. one kills her flowers for ne reason. the two on the bridge could just go over first, they were heading the same direction. the one cutting in line was mean too for no real reason. only getting the harshest treatments made her adapt to only them.

Cranky and Matilda met in Canterlot, not Ponyville. It's certainly possible Cranky lived there at first too, but we only know for sure Matilda did. . IIRC, Applejack got jokingly placed in 'background character' territory by fans because of this season where she seems to take more of a back seat. . Angel Bunny is wanted on twenty-three cases of domestic violence. . You're 100% right. The shop pony has every right to charge two bits for tomatoes... they should've let that one go and saved Pinkie's "Duck Season Wabbit Season" bit for the cherry vendor. . Speaking as someone who's been in Fluttershy's shoes, it's so easy to go overboard trying to be assertive and slipping into cruel territory. Especially if assertiveness is new to someone. . That does sound like the old Hulk 'walking away' music. . Iron Will isn't scamming. He did deliver what he promised, but as they've said, his advice isn't the best. He's not a wuss, but he is civil to a point (even dainty with that adorable shopping basket). He keeps his word, but practices what he preaches and does go overboard with assertiveness. He's not like Flim and Flam in that he doesn't outright con others, but he does tend to go about things in... not the best ways. Also as TheSlorg and you noted, others likely rarely if ever tell him 'no.'

One of the more divisive episodes of the show, and oh look, Merriwether Williams....But you could tell that by how nearly everypony acts like an asshole in it. Pretty much the split in thoughts for the ep come down to those that simply like it for being a step to making Fluttershy less of a doormat and the admittedly good moral, and those who can't get over how far it took things and the massive doses of cynicism and assholery it shoved into the show. Also, while Angel has always been a brat, this pushed him AR passed what he'd do anywhere else and it took years for him to recover from it. And both sides agree it makes no sense that the episode tried to portray Iron Will as in the somehow responsible for this. On the plus sides, Iron Will is awesome, and yes, that was The Lonely Mare's Theme.
