Now, I know what most of you want to comment but seriously, I don't want to go ...eh... there, so don't ruin it for others. Just sayin' :D

That being said - basically a 15 minute setup, as simple as you can do this effect, but effective enough and a great start for doing this kinda thing. :)

The stashed" scene file has the boolean operation cached in the file, bigger download but way faster to load as it doesn't have to calculate that pretty hefty boolean. ;)

Super useful, THanks for this. Can You please tell me how you will go to dissolving the deformed geo? now it just generates the points on frame 1 and so the deform freeze... Is there some simple workaround? Thanks. Bretislav

Oh there's an animated version of this on Vimeo as well. 😁 <a href="https://vimeo.com/272116807" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://vimeo.com/272116807</a>

Yes, I found it, however, point deform not work very well for me... I have kind of tentacles moving, several of them.. :/

Then create a better foundation for the point deform. I'd try doing a high point number scatter on the mesh then use attribute interpolate to gave them following the mesh UVs, then use that for the source of the point deformation. The rest is just tweaking the point deform SOP values...
