You could do with a cheap USB endoscope. Feed it up those pipes and have a proper look inside.

I bought a really long one (6 meters maybe) off of an app called Wish. $20 and it works very well. The only problem is you have to wait a couple months while it is on the slow boat from China. I swear they sail in circles for a couple weeks.

I got a few pounds of Mercury from an old man that I knew, that smelted it himself. He worked in a commercial smelter and made a small replica at home. He had to find a new line of work after he got Mercury poisoning from pushing the ore carts with his hips...
