You are just trying sooooooo hard :) I love it! I would totally buy "Cody'sWash"

Anonymous

Of course you do Lol

Anonymous

Pro level trolling. Of course you’d use a brush no matter what you used as an actual cleaning agent. Love it.

Anonymous

Hmmmmm doesn't denatured alcohol contain denatonium benzoate where you are? that would make this recipe extremely unpleasant...

Anonymous

WHAAAAAAAT LOL

Anonymous

April fools?

Anonymous

Glad I realised it's already April 1st one minute into the video :D Love you, Cody!

Anonymous

LOL. If it does -- you're in for a hell of a *bitter* day.

Anonymous

I have always really appreciated how Cody shows the proper precautions (and the reasons for them) in stead of just warning about the dangers of literally everything. It has really helped me a lot, personally, so thank you Cody!

Mark Trombley

I just use peanut butter.

I don't think the mouth rinsing part was faked though... Just the part about not brushing his teeth.

Kadah

"Foamy" I think that's gonna be a pretty apt description of the comments when this goes live. Should be rather entertaining.

Link https://organicalcohol.com easy and the cheapest I've found. 190 proof organic or 200 grain. If you're willing to put that concoction into your mouth you could be open minded enough for this therapy for your allergies if they are bad. It's helped mine. I host 40 Nectator Americanus. They take bitcoin. wormswell.com

I think you totally crazy LOL!

Whelp its confirmed you are a mad scientist... Still couldn't help laugh at the 5? gallon jug of peroxide.

Silviu T

Hmm how much is April's fools and how much is true? Are you actually allergic to peppermint? It's a very rare allergy, and I in fact have it (the component I'm allergic to is menthol). IRL it is very hard to find toothpaste, and while some have almost tolerably low amounts of menthol (Colgate Total) it's almost impossible to find a mouthwash. So what I do is brush my teeth with baking soda instead of toothpaste, and use commercial hydrogen peroxide 3% for mouthwash. Seems to work OK. After almost 5 decades I still have most of my original teeth (with 2 exceptions).

Anonymous

Kind of gross, but you found the way :) you won't get much tail with it, though :D

Asking an honest question here -- Is there a difference between "Lab Grade" and "Food Grade" chemicals?

CodysLab

Lab grade could be 99.9 and food grade could also be 99.9 but the lab grade could have .01 lead which would be toxic.

I can't help but feel that this is part of April fools. Any chance we could get a recipe list with accurate quantities if it is true? My gut tells me it isn't though. I'M SO CONFUSED!

Happy April Fools day. But seriously, methanol is poisonous even at low concentrations with regular exposure.

Paul Grodt

OMG that is some good clickbait. Well done. Also, what idiot allowed you to buy concentrated hydrofluoric acid? ;) There have been a couple of experiments that I have bailed on because they involved various terrifying fluorine compounds.

Anonymous

Made some, tested it on my dog. Dog died. Lesson learned: stick with Colgate. Happy April Fools! :) p.s. Anyone need a brown Labrador carcass?

Anonymous

So is this april fools, or a real thing with just the regular amount of "casually dropping potassium in 99.99% pure hydric acid" codyness?

Alexander Thomas

It seemed vaguely plausible until the HF…

Silviu T

You can buy HF on amazon, look for "Whink Lime and Rust Remover"

Anonymous

It took me three listens to understand correctly the sentence "I actually have something in common with the Baudelaire orphans". Youtube's speech-to-text was less than helpful, suggesting "Buddha orphans". Anyway, isn't Hydric acid horribly dangerous stuff? (Happy April Fools' Day)

Michael Steeves

My first thought when seeing the post was "C'mon Cody, you are smarter than that -- trust the evidence! This crap should be reserved for... Sigh... April 1st."

Anonymous

In mouthwash concentrations, and particularly when not actually ingested, it's typically not dangerous at all. And as he said, that contained methanol, but that wasn't all it was.

Anonymous

Well, if he IS actually allergic to mint, I could see this. Though you can brush your teeth with things like baking soda and salt, or even no toothpaste at all.

hey7328

Pipetting from the HF and H2O2 stock bottles.... hmmm

Anonymous

I was REALLY afraid you were or going to chronically poison yourself with additives like lead found in small amounts of the denatured ethanol. I am still am a bit afraid for you LOL :).

2021-10-11 10:20:56 I just realised something (yes, I know I'm slow...): If you made the solution basic enough to not damage your teeth (say, Ph>7.5), then the H2O2 would VERY quickly decompose. A fair bit would also react with the (m)ethanol, producing the corresponding carboxylic acids. That won't affect the total alcohol percentage too much, but depending on the amount of excess base present and the exact original concentration of H2O2 in the solution, it might even be enough to turn the solution slightly acidic! In any case, even if the concentration of peroxide was like 3-5% (which I'm pretty sure would cause scar tissue to envelop most of your taste buds with regular use), the decomposition rate would be enough to render it useless in 2-3 days (unless you keep it in a freezer, or there is some other stabilizer in there that I don't know about?).

like the video, but really all you need is hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. It's kept my grandmother's teeth white for her entire life (92 years and counting). I also use the same and haven't had a cavity yet.

CodysLab

If you live somewhere that doesn't add fluoride to the water you absolutely need to add it to your mouthwash.
