OIHS February 2022 Progress Update (Patreon)

I am dying! Like, literally, I am about to keel over. Juggling midterms and a visual novel on the side is not for the faint of heart, it seems. Who woulda thought? Usually, by the time the progress update is out, I'd have finished the month's build and begun finalising the nitty-gritty.

...But I'm still working on the content itself. And it's still the prison stuff. Once again (hmm, I'm noticing a trend here), I managed to grossly underestimate just how long a content block is. I'm over my usual monthly word count already, but I'm still trying to finish what I outlined. Only the promise that I'd complete the prison arc and that what I wrote is actually quite interesting (I hope) are driving me forwards. I don't want to leave it hanging again. I also have a 2k word essay due in three days that I haven't completed—but who cares about that? (me)

Anyway, so what does this mean? Well, firstly, no new sprites. No fresh sexy men to look at (sad). I originally planned on drawing at least one character this month (cue laughter), even if it's just a random, no-consequence man that you'll never see again. But alas.

Next, this also means the February patron vote on the Coliseum content will be pushed back to March. So next month will be the Coliseum, whatever-wins-for-the-March-vote, I believe a new commissioned character makes his appearance, and I'll see if I can squeeze the Farms as well. But hey, this time I actually think I can properly complete the next month's update. Did I just jinx it? Uhh... I hope not.

Lastly, no patch notes for this month. It's literally just the rest of the prison event—but I actually think what I'm writing now is really interesting, so I'm not sure I want to spoil anything this time. I think the more observant ones would have figured out who's coming up next, but there's still more in store. That's also why this progress update has no images attached to it. Just... imagine a mineshaft and a textbox at the bottom of the screen. Yep.

And that's about it. I still plan on uploading the February build on the 25th, but it might get slightly delayed if I start panicking about my midterms instead. I just wanted to send out this progress update in advance so everyone knows what's going on. I feel like when an orange sags from when someone holds it too tightly. But yes! Back to writing!
