8th of 8 Posts for September: This cave video is pretty awesome because I go into it with a blank slate and it's not common to find what we found.  You can see it in their eyes.  I get sent a lot of interesting things but it's fun to go get the old gear myself for testing.  Adrian Ballard and Patrick Cunningham discovered a new virgin passage and dome in a "Hawaiian" cave.  Hawaii is well known for it's limestone alpine caves :).  I tested the rope to 15+ kN when I got home.

Store stuff: We found one mistake and inventoried 2 different directions to make sure we have what we say we have.  I got Glacier Black Newt rope on the website yesterday.  Putting on Egreiss and Trident today/tomorrow.  I think all my Beal ropes showed up but haven't opened the boxes yet and I need to put them on the site.  Supporter system is basically done on the website which means I can start slowly releasing it to some of my email list.  My main manager starts in 2 weeks and I'm looking for a 2nd manager now.  We want to enjoy the last glimmer of fall before winter hits so I don't want to open too quickly while understaffed. Only you patrons get a 25% discount and that will go down to 20%.  But only after you get to stick your hand in the cookie jar once I get the bulk of what I recently ordered: helmets, ropes, DMM, Camp, Moses, and High Mountain Gear in hand and on the site.

Will I carry xyz? Yes.  I want to carry everything.  I thought Extreme Gear shipped slowly and didn't communicate.  The entire supply chain is significantly worse.  That apparently is the value the retailer offers the customer. A smoothed out version of chaos.  Believe me, I've reached out to sterling, totem, blue water regularly for a month now and no response.  Those who do take 2 weeks to process a cash-pay account (CAMP).  And DMM has had my money for 2 weeks and hasn't put my stuff in the mail yet.  Thank you for your patience if you don't see something on the site or are outside the USA and can't order yet.  I put stuff in the mail the day you order it and what I say I have, I have.  Beyond that is up to the supply chain gods and time will make it all better.

Would you trust a 40 year old rope?

Yes!!! This is why I support HowNot2! I have exactly the same stuff laying around. Ropes that were since the early 90s in Swiss alpine caves. Now I know that they can still be somewhat useful. Of course only in very controlled settings.
