Just a small edit before I start work today. some wished to see a little more of the rump. I wanted the lift to be subtle.

Iunno what reference you used, but based on the one example of an actual brown bear's rear I've seen, this is actually pretty spot on: much like a dog's, but puffier, and indeed as wide as the tailbase itself. Speaking of which, I believe this is actually more realistic overall; I may be mistaken, but if I remember correctly, bear tails aren't really long/droopy enough to hide much back there. Either way, struck a perfect balance imo!

I first looked for nature photography of brown bears, the tails, even if small cover the rear and I have yet to find more than 2 good examples of a bears rump. indeed there is very little reference of the intimate parts of creatures but I get most of my reference from Flickr and zoological pictures.
