So, yeah Winrow's second appearance wearing his standard clothes. Those damn thorns, though... really took a long time to draw them, heh.

In his manga theory book, Hirohiko Araki, the creator of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is talking about the first impression of the hero in his introduction scene . According to him the first pages are the most important pages because they should work as a representative preview for the rest of the manga. Especially the hero should be introduced in a maneer that let the reader raise a lot of questions about them to get their full attention. In addition, the hero should be presented with a fullbody view and a memorable pose. It helps to visualize the characteristics of the main character beforehand and to get a clear image of this person within a few pages. At last, I did not start my manga this way and it even took almost a dozen pages until the first fullbody view appeared.

I think after I learned those things I would handle the first pages of a chapter differently in future. But how I presented it in hindsight is not entirely bad and I thought a lot about the order of the events concerning the early pages though. So yeah, it was neccessary to wait with the encounter between Winrow and Chaudine until this page also to build up a good impression of Chaudine as Winrow's powerful rival. Stay tuned about the continuing confrontation.
