Raye was signed under a major label for almost a decade and they never allowed her to release this album. She finally got rid of that contract and this is the story she's always wanted to tell. I've been a fan of hers for almost 6 years and got the pleasure to watch her live back in 2017 and I honestly still can't believe this is finally happening and her insane talent I finally being recognized 🤧

btw Mahalia, the feat on Five Star Hotel, is the same female vocals from Closer, by RM and Paul Blanco! She's a British singer and was the voice in the demo RM received and decided to keep in the final version of the song

Escapism was really big when it came out all over social media. I think that's why it sounded familiar. But, yeah Raye is such a hidden gem, I can't wait to see what she does now that she is free from her record label.

For everyone discovering Raye now, make sure to check out her EPs Second (2016) and Side Tape (2018) and also her album Euphoric Sad Songs (2020)! They're not the projects she truly wanted to release, but they're still amazing! Also her single Sober from 2017 is insanely beautiful!

I've been spending the past couple of days doing some busy type homework that I don't have to fully concentrate on and taking the opportunity catching up on some of your content. Anyways, everything has been so good! In general I don't dislike very many things, but this stuff lately has been next level. I have especially enjoyed this album and Melanie Martinez's k-12 film! Amazing voices and so creative and clever.
