Really enjoyed my first time watching your Patreon reaction to Queen Taylor. The depth in which you address her lyricism is phenomenal. I have watched so many reactions who skim over, and sometimes outright ignore her pen game! Might as well not listen if they dismiss her writing. But you really delve into her words, and that's when I decided to join your patreon. Keep up the great work.

I feel like dear reader (especially after the news about joe) is so severely underrated. She’s saying guys don’t listen to me, I’m falling apart. Like she doesn’t want to be responsible for us following her steps.

I just want to say that The Great War is my favorite song on Midnights, maybe my favorite song of hers ever. I'm a huuuge history buff and there's a myriad of WWI references in there, which makes the depth of their meaning so much more powerful to me! Firstly, 'the Great War' is what people called WWI before there was a second war, and naming it this is so powerful in context of the breakup; when you're in it, you're grateful that that war is over, but retrospectively, Taylor's got that looming fear (like Out of the Woods) of a greater loss. 'Took the battle underground' - in WWI the fighting above ground was so deadly they had to dig trenches to survive 'tears on the letter' - there's a wealth of correspondence from WWI on all sides, and many of the soldiers did their best to be encouraging while at the same time in deep fear for their lives 'you drew up some good faith treaties' - the Treaty of Versailles (ending WWI by declaring Germany culpable) was for many in retrospect, *not* a good faith treaty. This is interesting, because like the title, it implies that she may see them both as responsible for the fight even though on the surface, she's taking responsibility. This is mirrored in 'your finger on my hairpin triggers' too. There's a well-known very bad gun that was issued to some of the troops in WWI so this could also (deep cut) allude to the idea that there's a flaw in the manufacturing 'place a poppy in my hair' - in the UK, Remembrance Day is specifically for WWI losses, IIRC, and the poppy is a big symbol of that day. Joe Alwyn is from the UK, so this shows, to me, the depth of his influence on her writing. She's entrenched (ha) in the culture of their relationship. Love your reactions, not sure you'll see this after so long but I have been meaning to write down my thoughts about this song for a while so I'm happy to have gotten the chance!

High infidelity reminds me of my mom. Not every line of course, but the "You said I was freeloading, I didn't know you were keeping count" and "the picket fence was sharp as knives" and "i'd pay if you'd just know me" and of course the chorus about killing the one you love. i know thats not what she wrote the song about, but I found thats how i related to it. I'm happy i moved across the country, but man, what I would do for a mother who loved me without keeping count.

my love for this entire album also continues to grow exponentially with every listen! for me this is now a no skip album 100% (ps i also thought it was panties instead of pennies literally until you said it wasn’t 😭)

Loved all of this of course, but. Interesting to note that Taylor references moonstone on the main album (like the name of the standard edition of Midnights) and then blood moon on these 3 AM tracks (one of the names of special editions of the album). She didn't name drop jade or mahogany, the other two special editions. No idea what it means, but it's been on my mind.

HOLY FOLKLORE! Lmao that cracked me up. Thanks for the reaction, it was great! My favs of the 3AM are for sure Bigger Than The Whole Sky, Would've Could've Should've and Dear Reader. I think that one will sneak up on you and grab you after a while :)

TSTS1989

I completely agree on the album growing and having a completely different experience on second, third, fourth, etc listen. It's just that you are so honest, real and and so into it with your content that it's easy to feel connected and feel you while you do your thing. At least that's why I love your content. PS: Vigilante Shit and Paris are also the only tracks I don't vibe with, with the additional 3AM tracks this album shot up to my top 3 Taylor albums along with 1989 and Speak Now. What Taylor is doing is The Beatles/John Lennon level to me.

I honestly don’t look at these as typical bonus tracks. I think all of them were good enough to be a regular album track. Although with that being said, Taylor’s version (no pun intended) of a bonus track is a bit different than most other people’s bonus tracks. Some of my favorite Taylor songs are bonus tracks. I mean New Romantics, The Moment I Knew, and Right Where You Left Me weren’t on the standard album just to name a few. How are songs of that quality supposed to be considered bonus tracks? We’ll just have to agree to disagree on Paris though. I love that song. Also, I’m sure someone’s probably mentioned it by now but there is one more Midnights song. It’s a Target exclusive called Hits Different.

Finally someone else who also loves Glitch. Also was I the only one anxious the whole time about you knocking that candle over with your elbow?

Is there a way to turn on captions on the Patreon video service? The captions you sometimes have on your Vimeo videos help me a lot

To me, after several listens, "Would've, Could've, Should've" is starting to feel somewhat near the level of greatness that is "All Too Well." Which is something I never thought I'd say about any song. "You call me up again just to break me like a promise" and "Give me back my girlhood; it was mine first" - How the songs build to those moments and how those lines are placed perfectly within the songs and sung in a similar tone makes these moments of these 2 songs hit me similarly. I am really thankful and amazed that Taylor created these 2 songs. All-time great songs in music history, in my opinion, which is clearly biased because everybody's opinion is biased....which leads me to: It’s amazing to me how different people can love and loathe the same song. Just goes to show that music is deeply subjective. I’m glad for the people who love the songs I don’t, and I am glad Vigilante Shit exists for me to love, even though you hate it. 😂 Edit: Also this is a complete side note, but I'm not a part of your Film tier and I just saw you're reacting to Hill House. I am concerned for you. It seems EXTREMELY unwise to watch this given you are scared by much less scary things 😩

You don't even know the floodgate you've opened requesting Jin and Jungkook (Jinkook) interaction content! They are the same mental age, and having each other gives both exactly what they need to stay sane. Jin is the maknae of his family, so he needed a playmate to give him a break from being hyung, and Jungkook needed someone to roughhouse with - like a puppy nipping at his brother. Hehe Add in Jimin, and it guilds the lily. 😆

FlyUshkiFly

I wish you could have just watched the entire BTS fork Vlive. Jungkook really amused himself. You have so much to watch across all artists! Do you ever feel totally overwhelmed?? I hope this is your full-time job. I can't remember if I've ever heard that...

I was introduced to Eurovision through the Overthinking It channel. They do summaries and highlights. (Not sure if they covered this year's tho.) Those might be good falling asleep videos... Except maybe the metal. 🤔🤔🤔😆

Amazing reaction as always! Thank you for keeping it real :) The whole album including these songs is incredibile and it just keeps growing and growing on me.. From these, my favorites are Paris (I just love it, hope it grows on you), great war, would've could've should've, dear reader.. Also would love to watch you react to the music videos for bejeweled and anti Hero :)

I loved relistening with you! And I appreciate the Glitch love. So experimental and not Taylor but totally Taylor. The nods to John, Calvin and Tom intrigue me with the re-recordings. The project as I view it had to grow on me, but Dear Reader, Paris, and the aforementioned are fabulous! Sadly Bigger than the Whole Sky is like not hitting. It's so mundane. Idk maybe not my trauma or production. I'm offended the one dislike is a fucking Jack song. This would've been a great bridge EP leading into Midnights. Solo I'd like it more because the original 13 are so tight and pristine. This isn't bonus track bullshit. Taylor gave us a double concept album basically. Like fuck her, she's the best human lolz. Proud Swiftie for almost a decade.
